IMO Big Brother loses a lot of core fans the further and further they get away from some sort of realistic representation of the cross-section of people in our society.
- Let me be clear, I do not believe it must be a per-capita exact replica in miniature,
and,
I am the first to acknowledge you can only find so many willing participants and it might be unrealistic to find (for example) 4 people over the age of 60 who would do this,
but,
At the very least try and aim for this 'microcosm' of the UK in general.
This would also quite possibly include one person who is largely 'asexual' in life. A spinster, a man who is simply not interested.
and,
This might include one male who is homosexual and a female who is lesbian.
At the most per season.

The other problem - and I think this might be closer to the OPs complaint - is that it is not a case where we pick the person first and it so happens they might also have a gay sex life.
Instead,
BB is deliberately trying to find 'A Gay' first and when they say 'a gay' they are looking for someone who first and foremost wears and acts what they want to see as 'the gay'.
This is almost always the 'flamboyant' gay, the emotional and fashion flaunting gay.
Or for some reason Camp Frankenstein in there. A big ole monster gay who squeals over clothing fashions.

IF there was one character like that in a season it would still be an over-representation of the society in general but I can accept that all fair enough,
but,
for whatever reason loading the house with what seems like dozens of flamboyant emotional fashion loving gays is just annoying,
becomes very dull in short time,
really takes away from the many other possible types of interactions with different people.

Gay people are neither over or underrepresented in the show. Last year, Dennis was the only non-straight housemate out of 21 people. This year, there are two gay men, two bisexuals and one lesbian out of the 20+ housemates. Also bear in mind, a disproportionate amount of applicants (ie BB fans) are going to be gay.

It sounds to me like you are just looking for a reason to conceal your dislike of seeing gay people on your TV.

It sounds to me like you are looking for a reason to find someone you can judge and feel self-righteous next to in front of your friends,
but,
be that as it may - it depends on what surveys you can find but the best research gives us something like:
Approx 1-3% of the general population fit into the 'homosexual' category.
This can mean different things to different people and even include someone who believes that touching wieners with a kid from boys scouts one summer is putting themselves in having 'some homosexual experience',
so,
really the best studies will put something around 1 to 2% who we might call 'confirmed and actively homosexual'.
(not necessarily 'out' either).

So if you had 1 'actively homosexual' man in 21 people then you still had a disproportionate representation.
AND,
That is just who was 'declared' of the 21 people.

As I said before I don't expect to see some sort of 'per-capita' strict system of casting here.
I'd like to see SOME sort of effort to line-up a reasonable representation overall as best they can.
I really doubt that 1/3rd of all applicants this season were made up of homosexuals.
Even if that was the case we don't see BB making representations of the applicants either.

Let me ask you this:
Why shouldn't there have been 10 homosexuals this season?
In fact - I'm going to say there should have been 20 and if you say anything less then I have caught you out being a homophobe.
