I see this word used alot on here.
Do people know what it really means and what it originates from, or is it just a derogatory remark used to replace a more intelligent comment that is lurking somewhere? I'm failing to see the whole Team Chav thing, I'm sure we all have something chavvy about us if we are going down that route and most importantly, would this not make Vanessa and Makosi chavs, with their headbands/trackies??? Just out of interest |

Chavs have adopted Burberry & bling! It's the new name for either people who would mugg you, or SO NOT trendy people trying & believing they are! - Some football fans too!

See, the term Chav comes from Council House And Violent.
However, it's now considered chavvy on what you wear, which includes large earrings like Saskia, trackies (Saskia and Makosi) and other tacky clothes (Headbands included) Interpretation of Chav is so diverse, we all, I suspect have something chavvy about us. Maybe with me, it's my slippers |

People are called chavs round here if you wear a cap literally over your eyes and a track suit.

The word chav is pathetic I think, there is so many variations of the word its stupid and now its even in the dictionary but i think in the wrong context or not an open enough context. For me a chav is someone who wear burberry, is violent and asks like a thug and hangs about in gangs. Ive seen old men 60+ wearing burberry caps does that make them a grandpa chav? I think not. A Real chav to me is not a nice person and other people get mixed in and seen as chavs because they wear burberry or a tracksuit. People can wear tracksuits without being a chav in my opinion like sports stars.

People are getting confused with the word now, just labelling certain things as chavvy.
I've recently been told wearing ankle socks makes you a chav! lol It's getting stupid, and i have to say the media dont really help. |
