Derek has finally found a companion in the House that appeals to his aesthetic sense - a butterfly.

As the rest of the Housemates slumbered, the Tory grumpily set about cleaning up the group's mess.

It sounded as if he truly had woken up on the wrong side of bed as he barked: "Cameramen go and have a w***! How interesting is it watching a scullery maid do her work?"

But Derek's temper was soon melted when he saw a butterfly in distress. "You're not well are you? Oh, you poor thing!" he cooed at his winged friend.

Delicately picking up the creature, the right-winger carefully placed it outside. "You might be able to recover in your own time. You're much too beautiful die. We need more beauty in the House, there isn't any here yet," he purred.

Taking one last longing look at the butterfly, Derek sighed, "I wish you luck and long life."

That's probably more than he wishes any of the Housemates.
