Default Peeing in the pool

I was amused that, even though Marcus is often criticized for being so disgusting, he was the ONLY one who got out of the pool to go pee. The rest admitted to peeing in the pool AND to peeing in the tub when they were bathing with someone else. That really IS disgusting!

Already said this, people seem to be defending them too. I would love to see them sit in a bath full of piss!

Urine is 96% water. The other 4% is made up of soluble salts which are so completely harmless that some individuals drink urine every day for decades and suffer no ill-effects.
I think claims for it's beneficial effects are dubious but its safety is undeniable.

By the way, do you remember the histrionic fuss Alex (Sibley?) made about peeing in the shower?

And yet, I still wouldn't want someone else to pee on me.

Oh RCW, it's still absolutely disgusting behaviour. Do you want to swim in a small pool full of urine? And actually it can be toxic to the skin so you're talking through ur arse. What they're doing is absolutely filthy.

While some people may thinking it is disgusting there are people who regularly use it on their skin, its said to be good treatment for athletes foot and other skin problems.

It is sterile on leaving the body and various health claims have been made for drinking your own. However it is advised to drink more water than normal if using it as the toxins flushed from the system will be put back into the kidneys.

Saying that on a survival exercise in the Nevada desert we were shown how to filter the toxic salts out of it using a home made filter of a sand filled pair of trousers..

It can also be used to negate the sting from jellyfish and other types of stings.

The ancient Romans used to use it as a bleach for clothes.

I know myself and a great many friends use it to warm up the wetsuits we wear when diving. The effect on skin is only when the urine is concentrated and left in contact on the skin for a while. (I used to cr@p in mine)

There are many beneficial things that urine was used for. For example, it was a fantastic mordant for dyes which is why the dyers were often forced to live on the edges of the village. However, I still maintain there is a big difference in doing something with your OWN urine and sitting in someone else's urine without your knowledge or permission.

It's sterile usually but there's always the possibility of an infection in it if you're carrying something and it can also collect bacteria when it passes through through the uretha and over skin. And it's very doubtful that divers let others pi$$ on them. That's the whole thing.... horrible thought swimming in others urine.

Alcohol and tobacco are a million times more harmful.
And the dangerous constituents are in much greater concentrations.
All of your objections to urine are of the"yuk factor" type and you are entitled to have them but scientifically it is harmless.

Not in all cases and it's still passing through someone elses anatomy. It's disgusting.

Setanta
This is a civilised and semi-serious discussion to which you have contributed some personal and interesting points.
When you use a phrase like "talking through ur arse" (sic) you let yourself down and spoil the atmosphere for others.

Please note that YOUR urine is sterile to YOU only. You have heard of hepatitis?? And cholera? and all those charming illnesses that come when field workers harvesting our veggies don't have access to handwashing facilities????

But it's true.... the thread was about how disgusting this behaviour is which is perfectly clear to me. Turning it into a topic concerning the health merits of urine is going off on a silly tangent that really has nothing to do with what OP was commenting on. You can swallow a lung full of someone elses urine if you want but I'd prefer to see a bit of manners and cleanliness being displayed in the house.

And it can be bad for you..... i wouldn't trust anybody elses urine when it concerns my health.

I remember it well, can you imagine his reaction if he was in this house with them peeing in the bath and the pool, it would make for some explosive viewing.

To willingly use your own urine for your own purposes is your own business.

But to secretly pee in a swimming pool/bathwater that is being used by other people is definitely NOT ON!

If somebody were to pee on you in the street, it would amount to a form of assault - they need to seriously think about germs/bacteria/infections etc.

whilst this has been an edifying thread on the history and uses of urine ....i think we are really on about basic manners

its a bit like someone thinking it was ok to turn and belch in your face all the time

a belch is in fact 100% air and i think you'll find that scientifically it i............

I hope none of you folks drive your cars tomorrow.
The risk of death is a million or more times than anything urine can throw at you.
Perhaps a brief course in probability would be useful.

Do you realise how far you're digressing here? Your bewildering decision to draw such an extreme comparison only heightens the silliness of this conversation. I don't understand the logic in it at all really..... are you a big Sophie or Charlie or Rodrigo fan?

I love it when this forum suddenly throws up hilarious threads like this one. I have been laughing all the way through it and some of it has been quite educational too.

This thread is about how everyone criticizes Marcus for being so disgusting and yet he was the only one who got out of the pool to go pee in a toilet while the other housemates said that they regularly pee in the pool and the bathtub WHILE SHARING IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

My point being that Marcus is usually judged differently than others.

Then the thread seemed to devolve into a discussion of urine in general. However, your points are even farther off topic than the fact that Shasown pees in his wetsuit for warmth.

Edited to add: And I don't recall anyone saying that someone was likely to die from being peed on. However, many HAVE said that it is gross. And it is.
