My sister found a 2 week-old kitten last night that had been abandoned, and so she took it home. It has since been to the vets and we have got food/bottle to fed her (the kitten). But she just won't feed. The vet said to keep on trying but for over an hour and she tried to suck the bottle but wasn't getting anything. Now it's not even trying to suck on the bottle. Any one with cats - any tips?

Im not really sure, but you could make the hole in the bottle slightly bigger so that the milk can slightly drip out on its own so that the kitten can smell the milk and will try to get it. It will also be easier for it to suck.
And Make sure its warm.

How about a syringe as with that you could place it firmly in the kittens mouth and slowly release the milk, or possibly an eye dropper type of thing might work. Good luck

You have to be VERY firm, keep its mouth open with your finger. Even dribble a tiny bit of milk onto your finger and shove it round its mouth so it can taste it. At 2 weeks old it's going to be difficult but you have to be strong with it. Let it taste it, smell it... preferably on your finger, kittens like feeding from there. Start little - until they're used to that....

After a week or so, try mushing up (like seriously practically blending it) cat food with catmilk (seriously it goes GROSS), and put a bit of that on the end of your finger... eventually cut out the cat milk and just mush up the cat food a lot...

I've successfully weened 3 kittens recently, at about 3-4 weeks - so a bit older than yours.

LOL I don'tmean to squirt it, I just mean to help it get the milk out. It might not be that it doesn't want the milk but its too weak to get it out. If you use a squirty bottle you can help it. and if she wasn't getting anything then theres no point in doing it. We'd give up doing something we cant do

Use a 10ml medicine syringe every 2 hours. I hand reared many different kittens and puppies if you have questions.
Dont give it wet cat food from a tin until it is 6 or 7 weeks old but ween at about 3and a half weeks with the grain food mixed with the formula milk good luck to your sister whatsthe cats name
