Harsh ROB!

I walked into the paper shop this morning to find it filled with "Spencer's Story" and "My love for Kate" etc- the same tabloid hysteria poor Paul got.

In fairness, having read through some of it in the shop before paying for my Sunday Mirror (Theres advertising for you!) it's more like "Spencer gives us two quotes, and we twist them in inventive and interesting ways...."

I think it must be awful when you come out, because you can't help but give stories to the press - they are very intrusive, and I wouldn't know how to handle myself at all.

I don't think you should critisise him for it, and in fairness Paul and Helen both sold their stories (Helen a weeks worth) and realised their mistakes.

Give the lad a chance. If he says he wants to take her to Scotland, chances are he does. He has nothing to gain anymore, so I don't see why he'd lie about it.
Anyway, it's all speculation....

Why not impressed????

He's cleared up the truth about people who did kiss and tels on him (fair enough) and said he fancied Kate. The rest is just the paper overexaggerating everything.

I fail to see what's different about this and every other BB housemate who talked to the press - they can't help but talk to them.

Anyway, EVERY paper claim they have an exclusive with him (more than one had the suit picture on the front) - you sure they haven't all just been in one room, taken the same quotes and twisted them in diffferent directions??
I havent read them, but my faith in the tabloids leads me to believe this may be the case.

Give the lad a chance!

Like I said, Paul and Helen sold their stories, as did all the other BB housemates.

Let him be.

Its the standard thing for BB evictees - if he can get a few decent stories out they'll give him a load of cash then he can pass into obscurity- good luck to him .To see this from BB1 & BB2 go to the gardencroft BB1 pages and checkout the stories about Andy(who?) from BB1 or Mel or Penny from BB2. Its just a media circus

Hey, Glitterbabe, I meant no harm and in fact I thought I was being nice to you all by putting it up!!! How am I harsh?

I don't blame him for it. After all, as you said he says not a lot about .........not a lot, and he gets paid for it. Simple as that.

I'm taking my teddy home now.

Awwww, please don't sulk too long, ROB - I'm sure Glitterbabe didn't mean to upset you - please come out to play again soon!

the same tabloid hysteria ......
Glitterbabe - you've got a good point there. My initial gut reaction to the article was that in it, Spencer showed the same lack of respect for Kate as he did in the house (I know you disagree with this view, but that's how I felt).

However, you're absolutely right that the tabloids are famous - or should that be infamous - for bending or being economical with the truth to suit their own ends.

We had our fingers well and truly burned last year by some of the outright lies they printed about Paul and Helen, so I suppose it was too much to expect that they would behave any differently this year.

Look beyond the usual sex agenda the NOTW has and Spencer's laddish bravado, and the interview actually highlighted the respect Spencer has for Kate and women in general and his high morality when it comes to sex and relationships.

He was honest enough to acknowledge he was 'tempted' by Kate, but would never enter into a sexual relationship either on television or so soon into a relationship.

He reiterated that he DID shower every day, and revealed that hot water is available all day, provided it's run for 10 minutes or so first.

His views of the housemates were very frank which is surely something to be commended.

What choice did Spence have really...say nothing and have the papers write even more trash and lies about him or talk to them and have them get at least some of it right? From what I read, it sounds like Spencer said most of what he was quoted as saying, but it has always been a case as you have said here, that the press have a nasty habit of quoting someone, giving it a little twist and making things more salacious because unfortuantely 'sex sells'. Why should Spencer tell some tacky reporter or Davina for that matter his innermost thoughts about the way he felt and feels about Kate..it's none of theirs or our business really is it, and as you said Disco, by not saying very much on the matter only goes to show how much respect for Kate and woman he has in general?
Spence doesn't have the awarness of seasoned pro's who know what to say and what not to say in interviews, so even though he seems fairly guarded, obviously a clever reporter will trick stuff out of him that perhaps he would not have said ordinarily. He comes across as quite sensitive and certainly respectful and I have always admired the way he very cooly tells it straight. He hasn't slagged anyone off, and when he has said anything less than favourable about someone ie his fellow housemates... he backs it up with a reasonable and legitimate reason.
Just watching him on BBLB tonight proves that he isn't very comfortable with having to go into elaborate detail about what he has experienced in the house or how he feels about certain things...and why should he be? Spence isn't the easiest person to inteview because he doesn't faff about like some people and instead gives one word answers where appropriate. He is after all, just an ordinary bloke who happened to appear on a reality tv show...why then does everyone automatically expect him to act like a tv star with loads of experience, oodles of personality and with loads to say....even Dermot had a few little digs at him on tonights show!
I am glad he has remained true to himself so far and just hope for his own sake that pound signs won't tempt him to compromise himself too much in the future.

Disco - about the showers.

On E4 "More News" articles (Spencer Speaks) BB confirms that, of course, BB watches all the time and that Spencer really didn't shower any more than the other housemates said he did. I think Spencer is really sensitive about the cleanliness thing now and is stretching the reality somewhat.

Ok, I didn't mean to offend you at all, I know you were putting it up so we could read it.
"Harsh" is kinda my catchphrase - I meant it in kind of mock horror, cos it sounded like he'd sold his soul - it certainly wasn't meant to offend you, and I meant it in jest.

Friends?
I'll even give you my teddy too............

I feel 'orrible now - didn't realise it would sound evil when other people read it.

The rant about the press and Paul and Helen wasn't aimed at you, I was just on a bit of a ramble....

Honey, I agree. He keeps himself to himself, and it isn't any of our business (some of us (namely me) are just too nosy for our own good!)
But I don't take much notice at all of what the papers say - anybody can say something and have it completely taken out of context - the press do more harm than good.

Also, knowing the trouble poor Helen and Paul had, I know I would try and keep myself to myself - Spencer strikes me as the kinda guy who will just go back to work, as normal, and leave showbusiness well alone (although I have been known to be wrong!)

That is typical producer spin. I'm sure they'll be able to back it up with figures saying that Spencer may have had three or four showers less than the others, but it hardly means he is unhygienic. I'd take everything you see or hear from the producers/Dermot/Davina/the psychologists/website with a pinch of salt. They are masters of manipulation.
