Given the move away from the modern age and the uncertainty of the dominance of influence held by the western world in the wake of 11/9/2001, how do you think society and humanity as a whole will progress in our lifetime?
Is the trend of gated communities in the US and increasingly the UK symptomic of increasing social unrest and even conflict? Are we likely to see the concept of state control collapse as class, racial and religious intolerance segregate society into conflicting sectors? Given that history is about rises and falls rather than a linear movement towards progress and advancement, are we set for centuries of darkness, social backwardness and technological ignorance as happened after the collapse of the Roman Empire which was in so many ways similar to Modern Western Civilisation? |
