Default Science's small lie....

Well i guess its kind of a lie.

My ex boyfriends grandma lives next door to science's mum, and its quite a nice area up there, so when science makes out he lives in the 'ghetto' with all his 'possey' i dont he can be that bad off, if his mums quite well off. Yet again hes making himself out to be something he's not.

Correct me if im wrong

I think he would have been referring more to his life than actual situation. I mean his family must have been involved with some dodgy people, because there was a story about him uncle. bless his cottons.
If sexy_rach would like to fill me in on where abouts in leeds this is, I would pay more than a million pounds

Found it.... it part of a much longer post

Quote:
I didn't describe the area of the Leeds that Science comes from as a ghetto. Science does that himself. I told you what it is like. I live less than 3 miles from the area of Leeds that Science comes from. The people there are the most wonderful people in Leeds. They help give this city it's great warmth and character. The cameras installed there have made such a difference to that part of the city by day. Unfortunately it retains it's image for crime and illegal substances are still available in the area. The EU and the City Council are investing strongly in the area to improve it. Slow this money is reaping rewards for the people in the area. However it will retain it's ghetto image as long as people that live there think of it in that way and promote it as such.

The people living in Sciences part of Leeds are being given opportunities to improve there lives. Money is in place to allow the private and public sector to work together and help bring about the much needed new jobs, businesses, investment, as well as the wider economic regeneration of that part of Leeds. The City has in place schemes to get rid of health and education inequalities in the area. Science doesn't come from a ghetto.

Less than a mile from where I am now is one of the real Leeds ghetto's. Where you don't get a job just because of your post code. Were the streets are no go area's at any time of the day. If you want to buy an illegal substance just ask and someone will point you to the nearest dealer. All Illegal substances are dealt in the open, after all what is there to fear from prison when you live in a prison camp already. The kids that grow up there have no hope unless they move away. Many of them would love to live where Science lives where the streets are safe by day. But they are trapped they because of lack of opportunities and hope.

Rather than debating whether or not Leeds is a 'ghetto', isn't the more pressing concern the fact that everyone appears to treat this as some kind of achievement, to be worn like a badge of honour?
I come from a fairly notorious area of Luton, and I can tell you it isn't all that great.

A very valid point selfinflicted.

The word ghetto has become linked with poverty, crime, joblessness, deteriorated housing, rampant drug activity, and shattered families. The popular hip-hop movement recaptured the term "ghetto," along with its negative connotations, from the mainstream and reinvested it as a symbol of black culture and it has become used in the titles or a number of popular songs. And it now used with to denote black pride and authenticity.

Science used the term as a badge of pride associated with the hip-hop culture.
