Default Is Marcus exploiting his fans?

Is Marcus exploiting his fans?

I read this on the Digital Spy forum and it went for interesting reading.

He is obviously making money from this, lots of it but is it exploitation? The fact that he has made over a thousand pounds off complete tat does show exploitation especially after he decided to put foul mouthed letters on Ebay as well which are also making money.

I know some would say if people are willing to pay the money, they should pay it but if someone is willing to exploit people, should they exploit them?

If there is a demand for that kind of thing, why shouldnt he meet it?

They want to pay daft money for pieces of paper, let them. Apparently he has even been asked by some to put them up.

Thats kind of like saying people who make and sell anything are exploiting their customers.

But if I buy a TV, I can get a multitude of things from it. I can watch DVDs, Satellite, Cable, play games on it or watch conventional TV.

The basis of the exploitation is selling something above cost because people have got nothing better to do than to admire a loser from TV - now this is the exploitation. He knows he's nothing special but people place ridiculous emphasis on him that has no relevance to use.

What do you do with that key or paper? Show it to friends or basically what?

It has no real monetary value in years to come. The key can be fashioned at home and the abusive letter... bloody hell. But he knows it's worth crap and it will be wasted on a subscription to Television X.

It`s a case of supply and demand, people obviously want to own these things including the abusive letters.

I dont get why you have a problem with it.

His fans asked him to do it, he did it, they are now bidding for worthless stuff.

Simple as. They asked, and got what they asked for.

Personally, I have no sympathy for anyone who's willing to pay that kinda money for a piece of worthless junk; it's hardly a good investment is it? It can be argued that

Marcus is exploiting the public to a certain extent but in a capitalistic society isn't that something to be pursued? I don't see anything different to what he's doing than many

companies or persons do when they want to reap the maximum returns possible on any event or product, the product this time being Marcus who'll inevitably have a short

life span in the public realm anyway and he might as well get some extra cash while he's around.

One thing though: did he earn anything off Big Brother for the three months he spent in that house and while there's people out there who'll pay, shouldn't he be allowed to

make a little while he can? I mean if you're willing to point a finger at him and his code of ethics I think there's bigger fish to fry in today's society. I think we should cut him some slack here.

I think they get 30 quid a day and he was in there for like 90 days so he probably got 2700 quid when he left the house.

If you think about it... it's not that bad is it. You get board, food - it's fairly boring but 2700 quid for 90 days

Well 210 pound a week and bills and such are paid for...

Not bad I suppose for lying around scratching your arse half the time. Still though, this kinda exploitation happens all the time in our society and on a far bigger scale so it wouldn't be fair to target Marcus, even if you do have a problem with the fundamental concept and motivation behind it all.

Exploitation? If you use the definition of the word: to use something for profit, then EVERY person on big brother is guilty of it. They have all used Big Brother for their profit. However, does that make them bad people? No. If no one wanted to watch Big Brother, they wouldn't benefit. If no one was willing to buy memorabilia, then it wouldn't matter what Marcus sold as no one would buy it. He is offering what people want. He is no more exploitive (in the negative sense you implied) than Sainsbury or Wilkos or whatever. Supply and demand.

I and every *******er on this forum would do the same! You see... it becomes exploitation when you are taking someone's hard earned cash for something that it isn't even worth.

And when you say everybody in this forum would do the same, you are wrong. I wouldn't... oh sorry, you said every ****er would do the same... well maybe every ****er would but I'm not a ****er.

Speak for yourself.

Also, you start at the lowest price going to get the biggest return, since ebay fees go by the selling rate. It was advertised via Marcus fans which he exploits since they're fairly sad and pathetic admiring him. I think he knows that. He's a sad loser with no money and he needs to take advantage of people who only like him because they disliked Sree for liking Noirin and Lisa for being friends with Noirin and it was his pathetic obsessive self since he can't get a shag, that got him all loser like with Noirin.

So they are admiring somebody because he can't get a woman.

Horses for courses but if you do the maths - David Beckham is far more value for money in terms of market return as he entertains billions around the world.

Marcus entertains 20 people on DS.
