Default Is there much point anymore?

Right, lets just take a look at the top two of last year and their recent songs; 'Bad Boys' and 'Beat Again'

Both don't show off their great vocals. Is there really much point in it being a singing competition if they're not going to show off their singing in their own songs?

It is more of a 'Find a pop star' competition now than a vocal competition.

Its about how marketable they are. Brenda from series 2 is probably the best female vocalist they've ever had on the show but she would flop in the charts.

Good voice doesn't equal chart success and digitally enhancing R'n'B is the thing of the moment

Yeah! Bring back Pop Idol.. And Pop Stars, also bring back the old X Factor format!

Of course the above is daft and can't happen.

I prefer the X Factor format, you can get more involved with the contestants, but only when there are actually half decent singers
