Default Sree's ice cream horror

Hey, I didn't realise that ditty Sree was made to say, 'I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream', comes from a horror film.

Hi eye sea

Thanks for the information. I did not know that.

I was not a Sree fun but I thought it was one of his best moment.

Yeah, I thought it was too catchy for BB to make up.

Geez guys - Of course BB didn't make up the phrase "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream" and it is WAY older than that movie.

I mean it was around when I was a kid and that's before most posters here were born ( ).

The first dated mention I can find is from a 1927 song, but it was probably around before that.

It is definitely as old as my childhood and I mostly remember it as a girls 'hopscotch' song/rhyme.
Along with:
"Red rover, red rover, I call ___ over"
and,
"Ring around the rosey, pocket full of posey, husha, husha, we all fall DOWN!"

Yes, it does seem that most of these were incorporated into bad horror movies with the obvious idea that I would watch and be chilled associating childhood memories with impending doom or perversion.

Yes, I do suppose most of the young people today do not know these old 'nursery rhymes' etc other than as being 'the song from that horror movie'.
But they are much much older.

Does anyone on earth still remember a song that was sung by wiggling the child's toes and it went:
"this little piggy went to market.. this little piggy went home.. this little piggy something something..."
?

Theirs a Farside Cartoon by Gary Larson, (kids check him out very good) where he parodies it with;

i cuss, you cuss, we all cuss for aspragus.

And people have said its Sree's best quote - even though BB told him to say it when answering the phone.

Thats an interesting post from you ElProx. Strange little insight into you...

If you look at a lot of the nursery rhymes and childrens storys (Grimm Brothers) they are often very sinister and full of horror elements, makes you wonder if times back then were much sinister or whether children could deal with horror better.

Now we have the disney-fied versions of these stories that remove the best parts of the evil elements.

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none,
And this little piggy went wee wee wee, all the way home.

As to what it means and where it came from.... who knows!!

Years ago I saw a documentary that looked at those morbid and often downright gruesome stories.
It really did make sense to understand these as way to protect and warn children.
Examples: Red Riding Hoods 'wolf' is really a paedo, child killer of their era. The 'Hansel and Gretel Witch' a violent schizophrenic.
Simply the 'don't take candy from strangers' of the day but told so children don't actually need to know about child rape or that sort of thing.
Can't remember the name of that doc but it was intriguing.

Another one I just recently found out was the Peter Pan tale was originally based on an absolutely horrific real-life child killer. The dude was that famous henchman of Joan of Arc. A celebrated military hero with his own remote enclosed 'school for boys'. Parents happily sent boys to his alleged boys as if greatly honoured and proud.. ..and this monster raped, tortured and slaughtered them.
Hence 'Captain Hook' or whatever the Peter Pan story was there.

Other interesting olde rhymes were '12 Days of Christmas' which was originally a Roman Catholic 'doctrine lesson' but in code.

Another funny one was olde sailor rhymes like 'sing a song of sixpence, a pocket full of rye, 4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie',
but,
it was said to originally have been a secret coded pirate 'recruitment song' that could be sung about the pubs and those who knew - knew they were hiring.
Don't remember exactly the meanings to these.

I wonder if that toes-little piggy thing has some diabolical beginnings?
This is all casting a dark cloud over my childhood lol
