Default Housemate taking it all too seriously?

Well im thinking of the people like Charlie, David and Rodrigo who said it was their dream to come, not sure if anyone else did. I can't see how anyone could be proud of you for going on BB, not exactly a big achievement is it? They could do so much more with their lives. Shame to see we have a society of wannabee's and idiots. Crying and getting all emotional over it is beyond me, and don't get me started on the sob stories!

The X-Factor still holds the title for annoying sob-stories though!

Yeah true, very very cringe worthy, put me off it a few years ago. The X-Factor is basically for Nuclear Families, who have 2.4 kids and a dog.

You may have a point there, my 9 year old daughter loves it. I usually feel like throwing the TV out the window when they do their sob-stories or start crying. Alexandria was the worst, she was embaressing, especially when Beyonce sang with her! She did have a great voice though

Yeah, I know a few families like that and the kids are mad for it. I watched it one week where a guy's brother had died and the his nephew came running on the stage after he had finished. Was just sooo cringeworthy and clearly staged. Also on these shows you have be be beautiful to not get the piss taken out of you, if it's a fat person they usually play that flumps music or something. They like nice shiny people to do well in it, makes me sick.

Thats sadly the way of it though, you can't have an ugly person as they are not so promotable, even the one offs (Michelle McManus) die out fairly quickly as their sales will never match the more sexier ones no matter how good they are at singing.

Its made worse by the disneyfication and force feeding kids music - S Club 7 was a TV program and a band (advertising on the BBC - self promotion) and they are all clean cut, attractive people.

Sex sells but they are selling it to kids.

Why is this not considered wrong!?

Yeah, it almost teaches kids that anyone who is good looking must be perfect and beautiful inside as well. Forgot about Mcmanus actually but she didn't last long, understandable. Yet they put loads of money in to Leona and almost force us to like her. It's not a show for real people it's basically a show for plastics.

I also think that the likes of Sophie, Charlie, Kris etc have been rasied on a diet of this (although not to the extent that todays kids are) being bombarbed with image is everything (something that sadly should of died out in the 80s) looks make you popular. Some of the Disney ones, that promote abstinence and so are considered healthy, but they are still portrayed as sex symbols, the teenage girl mags are full of images and text which contradict the message that is put out, parents just seem to think that everything is ok because its Disney.

Look at Hannah Montana, she's the latest number to suddenly make it big (well they shamelessly self promote, sell all sorts of merch, and if you don't like her then you should be excluded) buy into the brand, buy into the name, buy into the lifestyle.

Not forgetting that she is some 16 year old (I think 16 now, and how long has it been going?) being sold in a sexual way to kids, teenage girls love her because they want to be like her, 16 boys will hate her, but no doubt spend some alone time with her in mind, perverted adults will love her as she's jailbait.

and this is all just accepted.

The Spice Girls were bad enough - girl power was nothing about girl power, but it excused bad behaviour as 'Im looking out for me' (which has only gotten worse and Noirin is a great example of that) is easily abused, managed by males and completely marketed in that way.

There are no female role models for todays kids that aren't a sex symbol in some form or another. Boys at least have sports stars, girls get some dodgy band that sing about love and wanting to be with them.

Again we sell sex to kids and wonder why people like Sophie occur.

Yeah I mean, who could see Sophie as a role model? A girl who want to be bigger than Jordan and become a playboy bunny. Yeah seems like we had a few like that this year. Charlie especially seems naive to the whole, you must look good and be squeaky clean thing, also with BB being his dream. I agree that girls have no real positive role models anymore. I would have said actresses, but people like Beyonce seem to dabble in all, so basically it's the same thing now.

Its the same with BB, they need to make radical changes each year to stay a step ahead - especially with BB people have had ten years of it, and they now what they should and shouldnt do now.

Urgh Beyonce........

Sophie wanting to be the next Jordan is disgusting, she wants to be known as a media ***** that people only think about in terms of sex rather than as a person is so wrong. Yet, she won. The Chavs and Idiots are taking power....because they are dumb enough to buy into the latest trend/fashion/icon that they are told by magazines are the new thing, even though suprisingly they only promote the things they want to.

Take chart music, people say its popular because its in the charts, but the TV/Radio stations only play the crap that people don't really enjoy. MTV style stations love the Britneys etc because of the whole sex sells issue, as such people are influenced into buying them when real music talent is ignored because the lead singer has a dodgy nose.

Not X Factor its SEX FACTOR and we can't stop it because there are more than buy into it with each year and can't see the way they are being manipulated by media companies.

this years xfactor format is crap. They filter out the auditions to one of the following:

Stupid, but so rubbish they are entertaining.
Sob story, overcoming great emotional yaddah yaddah woo.
Actually great singers.

It's become the same format as Britains got talent. But limited to singers.
Simon Cowell is merging all the shows into one format.
£Reasion is live shows makes a shitload of money.
