Default Big Brother 6 - Ex-HMs Spencer, Tania and Bubble dismayed

Has BB hit rock bottom?

Look on thy screens, ye mighty, and despair. Big Brother has sunk to the seediest depths of sleaze and smut. Forget reality TV, this is depravity TV in its filthiest form. And yet we're still watching this tawdry excuse for entertainment.

Surely Kinga the Minga's latest aquatic antics were enough to make the most devoted viewer turn off and examine their opinion of what makes acceptable viewing.

What started as an intriguing social experiment involving normal people has become a salacious circus of celebrity wannabes.

It's just a shame they haven't got a trace of talent to pull it off.

So they've resorted to stripping off and performing the most repulsive tricks for bad measure. It's not titillating - it's quite terrifying.

And that's not just my verdict. Even the former housemates are disgusted by Big Brother's beastly transformation.

Spencer Smith, the snowboarding hunk who went into the house in 2002, is appalled at Kinga and her motley crew.

He says: "It's terrible isn't it? I struggle to watch it. I dread to think what their parents are thinking.

"They keep doing crazier things just for publicity. What makes it worse is they're not even attractive."

When Big Brother was born at the turn of the 21st century, I watched it religiously (so did my mum, who reads the Daily Mail and despises trash TV).

The housemates were real, different and, most importantly, totally oblivious to the show's huge popularity.

With Machiavellian Nasty Nick trying to rig the voting with his illicit scribbling, Anna's quick wit, flirtatious Mel and cheeky chappie Craig, the TV chemistry was just perfect.

Instead of getting sozzled and exposing themselves, they chatted, craved chocolate and completed Blue Peter-style tasks, like craft making, obstacle courses and cookery. Basically it was good clean fun suitable for all the family (apart from the naked body painting).

Then we got bored, so a hot tub arrived, more booze and the contestants came with extra sauce.

Strip truth or dare, streaking around the garden and shared baths became part of the daily routine, as Big Brother slipped into a sordid cycle of soft pornography.

Tania Do-Nascimento, famous for wearing lots of blusher in the 2003 series, is dismayed.

She says: "Its gone totally off the rails. I couldn't believe my eyes the other night. What Kinga did goes beyond being drunk. It was too disturbing for words."

And it's not just the women who are downright outrageous.

"When Anthony got really drunk, I honestly thought Craig was going to rape him. I was watching in disbelief," says Tania.

Paul Ferguson, better known as Bubble in the 2001 house, hasn't bothered following Big Brother's fall from great TV to travesty. He says: "We were all pretty well-behaved - there was no rudeness in our one.

"Now they feed them with alcohol so they start doing ridiculous things.

"Most people wouldn't do that sort of thing in private, let alone in front of an audience."

Big Brother's first winnner Craig Phillips, the loveable builder now based in Newport, refuses to comment on the show - and who can blame him?

His agent says: "People see him more in a DIY light than as a Big Brother housemate. He's very grateful to the show, but it was easy for him to move on."

The Channel 4 production team may call it pushing the boundaries but surely recent episodes go beyond the bounds of humanity.

Like Frankenstein's creation, Big Brother has become a monster out of control.

Take charge of your TV controls and vote with your sanity - abandon Big Brother or kiss forever goodbye to common decency.
BB update

Dozens of viewers complained about Tuesday's programme, in which 20-year-old Kinga put on a raunchy show.

She downed alcohol before fondling Craig in the pool and pretended to have sex with a wine bottle, a bin and a blow-up dog. Media watchdog Ofcom received 83 complaints and a number of viewers also contacted Channel 4.

In the Big Brother House today, Makosi was struggling to hide her contempt for saucy new housemate Kinga, who she feared could win Big Brother.

The X-rated antics of the busty exhibitionist proved a big turn-off for the Zimbabwean nurse.

She admitted to the Diary Room that she was horrified when she learned that the party girl was the replacement for Orlaith, who walked from the House.

"I did want someone new in the House, but not someone busy, and Kinga is so, so busy."
