thats always going to happen adter the launch as not much happens after those initial few hours, id imagine if CBB manages to stay front page news they may increase slightly to an averag of 3.5 mill.

Terrible ratings for last night. Three million have already jumped the sinking ship!?

If it can only got 3.4m for the first highlights show, imagine how highlights next week will do when the press interest dies down!

I knew having that awful task at the end of the launch would put some people off. Dear oh dear... we have another flop once again.

no we dont have a flop, there is a traditional drop in ratings from the launch to second show. People are unlikly to watch the first show because not much happens in those 4 hours, the ratings will probably gradually improve.

But the facts show that the first highlights show is usually more watched than most other highlights shows. That was the case in BB9, CBB6.

IBB :

Quote:
The first highlights episode of Celebrity Big Brother brought in a good audience for Channel 4 last night, overnights claim.

The Guardian reports that CBB’s 10pm highlights show, aired across 70 minutes, brought in 3.4 million viewers live on Channel 4.

This ranked Channel 4 second in its slot, beaten only by BBC News with 5.1 million.

CBB attracted 18% of the viewing audience, trumping out ITV’s News at Ten with 14%.

An average of 156,000 viewers watched the highlights on Channel 4+1 from 11pm, bringing the first night average to almost 3.6m, up slightly from the 3.4m who watched last year’s first CBB highlights.

However, the 3.4m figure from last year is an official rating; it actually pulled 3.1 million in the overnights, meaning this year’s figure is significantly up on the last.

The real test will come in successive shows – will it sustain this audience or lose it, as it did last year?

Keep an eye out!

3.5m is a very good result - just have to wait and see if it can hold it.

And Gavin - shut up! And have a shave!

How is 3.5m good?!?! It lost 2.7m viewers in a single day! The share is down.

I was expecting at least 4m.

Don't be a prat. There is always a huge drop after launch.

3.5 is a miracle in this day and age. And I can only see it going up.

Ok. Convince yourselves 3.5m is good, when it's not.

I bet they'll be down to 2.5m this time next week. Shirley Jones has disappointed me so far... I was expecting more of her.

3.5 is very good considering it was a 10pm - 11pm show. The later ones tend not to get as many viewers because of people who have to work early and go to school early.

I don't need to convince myself. It was good. Anybody with even a rudimentary knowledge of UK Big Brother and the television industry knows it's good. It's pretty primary stuff.

Exactly, which Gavin is conveniently ignoring. Based on where we were last year and in the summer anything over 3m is a success. Three years ago 4m+ may have been desired, but on current expectations it is so far, so much better than expected.

Who knows how things will pan out over the next few days and weeks (that depends on whether the producers screw things up yet again), but if they're still around the 3m level this time next week they should be pleased with that.

10pm is and always has been the much better slot for BB and usually where it performs best. They'll be some competition from the news tonight with people snowed in watching it to find out they're snowed in, but I expect ratings to be steady.

Anyway, I do want the ratings to do well. It would make Channel 4 really regret their decision for axing the show and send their channel down the gutter .

What series average would you be happy with? Is 3.0m actually any good? That would make it the second worst ever!

That's still good, most of it was seen in the launch show so I think anything over 3m is very decent.
