Default Big Brother 6: Get ready for the Big finale! [News Story]

Quote:
Big Brother 6: Get ready for the Big finale!

THE beds have been slept in for the last time and the final result awaits four people in a house just off Borehamwood High Street.

Day 78. Has Eugene blown his chances of winning? Is Makosi an actress? Will Kinga face a backlash? And is Anthony set to perform a victory dance?

Davina McCall reveals all in Big Brother: The Live Final (Channel 4, 8.30pm and 10pm, tonight) as 11 weeks of tears and tantrums inside the house comes to an end. Please do not swear.

Still reading the Welcome Pack this week, sweet geek Eugene would have been a red hot favourite to win had he acted differently on Wednesday night.

He selflessly volunteered to go into the Diary Room, thinking he might be evicted. Instead the radio engineer said yes when asked if he wanted to take a case containing £50,000 - half the original prize.

What late arrival Eugene didn't know was that had he refused the cash, the winner's cheque would have doubled to £200,000. After almost three months in the house, the despair on Anthony's "who dares wins" face was clear.

The Geordie dancer claims it's not about the money. "I came on here to be on TV and to be a legend to all my mates and to get in the newspapers.

"The whole thing about winning the show is massive, it's an achievement, it's the biggest show going and to be the winner is off the scale."

Tears

As the realisation of what he had done sank in, guilt descended on Eugene's shoulders and he burst into tears - again. "The right answer would have been to walk away and leave it to the winner," he reflected, forgetting that he is actually taking part in a TV gameshow.

"I thought by being myself and being genuine, I might have a small chance of winning. By trying to stand up for what I believed in. Now I've selfishly taken half of it."

There's no doubt Anthony is viewed by many as the deserving winner. He's been there since the start and survived stalker Craig. But will the suntanned one be caught on the line by Cheshire-born Eugene, socially inept teller of excruciatingly boring stories?

Eugene may have missed out when the assertiveness classes were in town, but remains genuine, honest and - suitcases full of bank notes aside - unselfish. In a world where contestants scream, shout and stamp their little feet to gain attention, victory for the most boring housemate in Big Brother history would be deeply ironic.

The bookmakers rate both Makosi and Kinga as outsiders to win. Makosi has more faces than a Geneva clock shop and has wound up fellow housemates with a string of lies, as fake as her hair. Despite denials, suspicions persist about her background.

Any chance Makosi had probably evaporated when she said gold and platinum weren't adequate to describe her "very unique" personality. She's been full value, but there will be boos, not least over her underwater liaison with Anthony.

Trapped

Desperate Kinga has lived in the house a few short weeks, though for those trapped with her it must seem like a decade. Painfully young and misguided, she's an apprentice Jade with a lot of growing up to do, even if her heart appears to be in the right place.

She has scandalised the house and the nation with her antics and still craved the spotlight. Asked this week why she was crawling along the floor and pretending to be a cat, she explained: "When you're an only child, you learn to play by yourself." Likes being the centre of attention but claims to be self-conscious.

Having watched this entire sixth series since launch night - scary Mary anyone? - there's no doubt it's been as good as anything that's gone before, even if ratings are slightly down.

Big Brother has also seen a drop in the number of eviction votes. Although Davina doesn't announce the actual figures on screen, some Friday evictions have been on a real knife-edge.

When Science became the eighth housemate to be evicted, he received 50.5 per cent of the vote as opposed to 49.5 per cent for Orlaith - the closest vote in Big Brother history.

Kemal was also unlucky, receiving a fraction over 51 per cent of the total votes cast. Fellow nominee Orlaith again survived with 49 per cent, and then walked out the next morning.

The bad news for fans is that the live summer of bruv concludes tonight. The good news is that Channel 4 has signed up for at least two more series.

And it's not quite all over. There's another fix at 9.35pm tomorrow with Big Brother: End Of followed at 9pm on Sunday by Big Brother Little Brother Reunion Show.

What will we all do next week?[/align]
