"It's increasingly clear, with even the redoubtable Lord Heseltine now predicting a hung Parliament, that the smallest shifts of public perception could decide who the next prime minister is going to be. Perhaps Gordon Brown could even turn his alleged violent temper to his advantage; if he decked Lord Mandelson on the eve of the election, he could be swept back to power."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/elec...tian-vote.html Does anyone know what DC's religious beliefs are? I suspect he believes anything that will get him a vote, perhaps after reading this he should consider Islam? |

I actually enjoy some laughs and appreciate politicians who can have a sense of humour,
but, on a serious note... the longer I live the more I really do wonder about the types of people who become successful politicians and just how much they are 'whatever-denomination/religion' that suits them. I mean.. really the word 'sociopath' comes to mind too often. no better example off the top of my head is President Obama. I saw a lot of people questioning whether or not he was still a Muslim (as he was raised Muslim) or if he was still a Christian, but, I have no doubt at all he is 100% dedicated to being exactly what he needs to be to make everyone satisfied. People asked how he could have converted to Christianity and attended this 'radical Church' for so long with this radical racist Pastor? Easy. Obama was there to sit in a seat, look for people to network with, look 'interested' and has never given a damn whatever the hell the Pastor was talking about. He wouldn't know if it was heretical or biblical or... he doesn't care at all. Yeah... I hate being a cynic but.. yeah, I think half these politicians are 'religious' about the same way prison inmates are too. A lot is 'said' when it suits them. |

In his "Call to Renewal," a keynote address to religious leaders, he made at least three such mis-characterisations. He said:
"Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is okay and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith." ![]() |
