Messing up loads lately. Especially firefox, as soon as I click it like maybe i'll get a min out of it and it just goes on not resonding. I've tried reinstalling twice, tried a defrag but it said something went corrupt or something. Also tried system restore which failed as well. All of a sudden everything is just running slow. :/ I have that acer laptop, which I think Jess and PJ have if I remember right.

Jolly good

You only need one anti-virus - having more than one might not work and would be slow. Microsoft Security Essentials is a good av also.
I had a problem with the Zonealarm Firewall before also, messing up Firefox. |

Yeah only have one anti-virus or it will cause problems. It's okay to have anti-virus and anti-spyware because they work in different ways. This is all what I have and have never faced any problems.
Panda Cloud Antivirus Spybot Search & Destroy Adblock Plus and NoScript (Firefox addons) All free btw.

I thought I had software problems when my laptop was freezing but it worked when I did ctrl+Alt+Delete, therefore it is the hardware.
I have never had any virus problems though, I only have AVG and have never had any problems. Sorry I can't help Joe ![]()

The good thing about Panda Cloud is that it's so discrete. It constantly scans your computer in the background, so you don't need to schedule any of those long, tedious scans most of 'em do. It's always connected to the internet too, so it updates automatically.
Search & Destroy, you'll need to run, scan and update normally though, but it's a good piece of software. You should use it to scan your computer once a week but I only do it once a month. Most of the time after a scan you'll probably only find some cookies, which are mostly harmless, but it's capable of getting rid of spyware, malware, etc. Adblock is a blessing in disguise. Does what it says on the tin. Gets rid of most, if not all ads. I laugh at any website that requires a subscription to get rid of their ads, when you can do it for free for any website! NoScript - pain in the arse at first, but you get used to it after a while. Just basically blocks all scripts on a website so nothing dodgy can hijack your browser. You can choose to allow scripts for that website, which most of the time, you'll end up doing anyway.
