A TV presenter has vowed not to let an unseemly spat with Pete Doherty upset her - despite the wayward rocker spraying her with beer during a live interview. Watch video here Five reporter Minnie Stephenson was soaked by a spitting Doherty as she presented a slot for Live From Studio Five. The incident left Stephenson shaken, and angered the show's host Ian Wright, who blasted the singer with the words: "I hate that geezer - what a complete mug he is." Doherty's Libertines bandmate Carl Barat was being interviewed for the show as they announced the reason the quartet had reformed for summer festival gigs. But as they talked on camera, Doherty - who has a history of drug use and trouble with police - spat a stream of beer at Stephenson. She initially thought she had a drink spilled on her but shrugged it off, saying: "I've just been splashed with beer again. It is so rock and roll." Her colleagues in the studio of the weeknight show were less than impressed with Doherty's behaviour. Kate Walsh said: "Was it him spitting beer on her? That's not on. Don't do that to our Minnie. I like the music but I don't like that kind of behaviour." Stephenson later said: "Live TV is so unpredictable you never know what is around the corner and you have to be prepared for anything - a boy in a band's not going to throw me. "It's safe to say Pete Doherty is off my Christmas card list," she added. SKY |
