Default UK Airports Open but at a much slower pace

But all planes must do New checks after
each flight.

Germany Airports had a better system
leaving it to the Pilot
today

Would you take the risk?

Does this mean that everyone who is abroad, can come back now?

Yes but it will be Slow
as the Planes have to check the Engines by hand and with a team , after each flight.

But from Sky News some Airlines may take
Legal action.

This could have been done yesterday.

Sure
it may be a short time
but they have now changed the Rules
so those BA planes that went up yesterday
found alot out.

From LA a BA Flight will arrive tonight
confirmed.

At this time BA planes are in the Air doing big circles
until 10PM

If you have a Good Pilot
you will be OK.

Legal action against what? The volcano or the High Pressure Area that is causing the wind to blow the ash plume towards the UK? Or maybe the wind itself.

Willie Walsh CEO of BA
said the UK Airports could have opened 2 days ago.

Yes those Flights will be OK.

But it is under a New Slower System
so you would have a wait longer than normal.

Engines have to be checked.

These New Guidelines are more like what America uses.

Airspace closure is a requirement under international safety regulations formulated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and requires closure and grounding when a Red Alert is given, ICAO states that there is "no definition of a safe concentration of ash for different aircraft, engine types and power settings."

Commercial aircraft do not have detectors that can detect and determine areas of high concentrations of Volcanic Ash. Nor are they maneouvrable enough to avoid thick concentrations detected by the Mark1 eyeball.

As for lack of funding, perhaps they should have done what they advise us to do. Obtain Insurance. It may reduce their profits a little eh?

While airline tests have shown there is substantive clean air through the levels, equally met office tests have shown that pockets of high concentration of ash do exist between the flight levels.

The ash is not uniform in the atmosphere and therefore it's possible to fly into one of these potentially dangerous pockets.

The airlines simply want to get back to making money, supposing NATS allow them to fly like they want and an aircraft crashes because of the ash, will the airline foot the bill for payments to the relatives of the dead or once again expect someone else to foot the bill, while continuing to make profits?

"and an aircraft crashes because of the ash, "

That is not what anyone wants.
Willie Walsh flew with test BA planes yesterday
he said we could have been flying 2 days ago.

This is a New system
Every Plane Engine has to be Checked for Ash.
That make good sense.

I would Fly.

I would fly too.

But its okay saying we could have flown a few days ago, (nice sound bite willie but total bollocks). Not all the little pockets of ash in the air can and have been detected and monitored, what happens if a plane flies into one?

Who will Willie blame, his own airline for their greed in forcing the issue, the government for allowing the scaling down of ICAO regulations or NATS for failing to detect the one that brings an aircraft down. Or again the volcano the wind and the high pressure system. Anyone but BA I bet.
