Things turn Ugly's over Jade's new beauty saloon
hertsessexnews http://www.hertsessexnews.co.uk/news...ty%20salon.lpf 09 September 2005 BIG Brother star Jade Goody received abusive phone calls after placing an advert for her new Hertford beauty salon Ugly's in the Mercury so retaliated with a mischievous message on her answerphone. Speaking on TV's Richard and Judy show on Wednesday, the 24-year-old former dental nurse said: "I had some really nasty, abusive stuff, then I left a message on my answerphone and I got in trouble. "I must say sorry to all those people who called in good faith and got me shouting." And she praised her 'Team Jade' East building company Ten Thousand Rooms, owned by Jason Godwin from Nuthampstead, near Royston. Speaking to the Mercury, she vowed to give everyone the same treatment at her Market Street salon even singer Barry White, who died in 2003! She dropped her latest clanger, or 'Jade-ism', when we asked if she hoped to see Victoria Beckham, who lives in East Herts, become a client. "If celebrities walk in here that'll be nice, but we want everyone to come including men," said Jade. "No-one will get special treatment. Whether you're Posh Spice or Barry White, you'll get the same treatment," she added, apparently unaware that the 1970s soul singer had passed on. But Jade who once thought that Rio de Janeiro was a footballer did have an excuse: she had been working late into the night with Jason and team to revamp the former Bristol and West in Market Street. Rewarding his efforts, she gave him a big kiss on the cheek and joked about when he grouted her legs. "Jason's been really good," she said. "The whole team put in a fabulous effort to get the shop ready. They've been here from the crack of dawn until late into the night. "I've had tiling grout stuck all down my legs and been covered in dust." Jason said: "Jade's one of the best clients I've ever had to work for. She's funny and always willing to chip in." One celebrity has already dropped by: ex-England footballer Paul Gascoigne, who used to live in Great Amwell. "I was working in the shop with Jade the other night and this bloke was looking through the window," said Jason. "He came to the door and said, 'Is Jade in there?' I realised it was Gazza he popped by to wish Jade all the best." A TV crew have been filming Jade setting up the business. On Monday at 9pm, Jade's Salon airs on satellite and cable channel Living TV, showing her in Hertford starting the business. And there will be plenty more Jade-isms on the show, such as: "I'm not going to be an escape goat for anyone!" |
