Angry Channel 4 are Idiots!!!!!

Hi,

Is it just me in thinking that Channel 4 are totally mad to launch BB11 on either 6th/10th/17th June 2010.

With all the speculation about a 23rd/30th May 2010 launch I finally thought Channel 4 had got their act together and had give the fans what they want (May launch, like it used to be), now they are going to launch in mid-June which is totally barbaric.

Why it has to launch this late I will never know, I just hope that the producers make BB11 the best series yet (even better than BB7) to give fans a bit of a thanks to have to wait so long inbetween series.

Thanks for reading and rant over now.

Jay

Exactly, when you think about it, it's smarter.. A later launch just makes fans want it more.. loads of fans did want BB in may but it looks like it's not going to happen and personally i think it's best

A May launch might be what the fans want, but Channel 4 are right to avoid May as it will clash with Britain's Got Talent.

If Big Brother's not carefully scheduled around that and the World Cup it will hurt the ratings - and if the ratings are lower it may affect its chances of a future. Do fans want that? No.

That said, Channel 4 could well ruin its ratings by poorly scheduling it in order to kill any future for BB on another broadcaster. We'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the replies (didnt think I would get any being a brand-new member like),

I understand that BGT will dominate the ratings but why should Channel 4 care what BB11 gets even if they launch on a BGT semi-final night say 3rd June and get 1.8m viewers they are getting rid of it in a few months time so why not let BB sink even further its their fault its gone this way.

They could already have programmes booked? They dont want too much competition and want to gain a high audience share? The fact that if they launch later they have longer to advertise? They will have their reasons to why they launch on the date they do..

To get the best ratings they can and putting BB up against BGT is no way to do that, infact C4 would be idiots for doing that.. BGT is one of the biggest TV shows ever, this is the final series of BB.. for any chance of it coming back in the future the ratings should be as high as they possibly can.

I'm sorry but I fancy they are just gonna use the ratings and competition as an excuse. What do they care what the ratings are as they have given up on the show already. They are starting later to save money and line pockets with any surplus they have left. They dont give a monkeys about the fans or they would have made an effort and not let it get to the death of BB on Channel 4 in the first place. As for it being the best series ever, Im not holding my breath myself. I think if they could they would probably have finished last series but I am expecting little more than a borefest this year. I hope I am wrong but we will see.

Channel 4 are run commercially, they make money by selling the time in commercial breaks to advertisers, therefore if a series has more viewers the time slots in and around that program are worth more than less watched programs.

When they sell advertising slots its normally on a weekly case, though they do allow longer agreements with bigger payers. Sponsors of programs pay higher premiums and get the privilege of having their adverts immediately at the start and end of the program and also the start and end of the commercial breaks.

June 17th seems SO late. Even June 11th or 10th seemed late.

I really wanted a late may/early june launch.

The ratings will take a beating anyway because of the World cup. Who the hell will be talking about Big Brother on June 17th with the World cup well under way? The worlds media will all be at south Africa.

The truth is it should of already started. In the middle of April, get the series under way and by the time the World cup starts, we would be a month or more in.

Its a shocking decision to pick June for it to start. Then you have wimbledon.

Truth is it was always going to have competition when ever its launch date. Its the fact that they have been so lazy over the last few years in working to develop the program's format that it has lost the ratings war in the first place. It still works on boring the housemates into conflict. They have simply not changed the show enough to capture new viewers. Same format different faces isnt good enough.
