The actress, who plays Karen in the Channel 4 comedy drama, said the final scenes in which viewers saw Joe attempt to strangle her were written on the day of filming.

She revealed: "The original storyline option was something far more way out, to do with a level crossing and a car, and it was really dramatic but we had all that snowfall and they couldn't clear the line so it wouldn't work and we had six hours to rewrite the storyline."

Rebecca, who in real life is going out with Ben Batt who plays Joe, said the two endings could not have been more different.

She said: "It was the complete antithesis of what was going to happen. Either one would have been equally dramatic, there's just a different energy and this one showed more about Joe, more about his frustration."

I liked the last episode, it felt a bit too packed at times but I thought it was good. They probably could have done it as a two parter though as a lot was going on.

I think Rebecca Atkinson is a good actress, would miss her if she was to leave at some point which I think will happen.. anyway she supports Man United so has taste in football teams.
