Default Whats with all the text talk?

I dont know if this is affecting anyone else but I'm getting a bit put off with all the text speak. I for one find it really hard to understand and I can be bothered to read the thread if I see post with shortened words.

I do realise, and slip up myself sometimes, that the odd u might be posted instead of you or 2 for to but the amount of text speaking is getting silly!
Does anyone agree with me?

Yer cannot say I really like text speech on forums. It's also against the forum rules.

Oh, it's text talk!
I thought everyone's keyboards were broken.
I hate text talk, it takes me ages to decipher, I really don't think it's worth the hassle. I find it much quicker to type the actual words, than to figure out the "text talk" alternative.

Can't abide text talk. If I see a lot of it in a post, it puts me off reading it. I don't mind people saying u instead of you, or 2 instead of to, but anything much more, and I'm completely confused.

Wasn't going to reply to this thread, said I'd just leave it but I guess someone or something is probably more apt promted me to.

Come on guys, it's really not that hard. How long have you been speaking the English language? Surely long enough to be able to express and articulate what you want to say in proper English.

*cough guttridge cough*

Yes, it is extremely annoying to read, I mean come on, can it honestly be that hard, typing the whole word??

To be fair Ziola, the member that you mentioned is not the only offender! I just think that the standard of replied has come down conciderably lately

No bbslilspy, you don't do it. However, a little punctuation wouldn't go amiss.

So long as I can read a post without getting a headache, I don't really mind too much about spelling/punctuation.
Text talk just looks sloppy, though, and sometimes it doesn't even make sense.

I agree that the 'text talk' has been getting worse recently.

Fingers are being pointed at one Forum member in this thread - a bit unfairly I think, as there ARE others who are equally to blame.......

Could ALL members please remember that it is against the Forum Rules to use text speech. Apart from anything else, it's just so difficult to decipher!

Thanx!

The odd 'u' instead of 'you' or '2' instead of 'to' is ok.

I can think of three reasons why text speak is 'morally wrong':

1. It's difficult to read
2. It cheapens the forum.
3. It makes the writer look like an idiot that hasn't mastered the basics of the English language yet.

(Also text without any punctuation, or line breaks, whatsoever - you know who you are )

You do know that you could just actually use punctuation and stop using text talk instead of having people endlessly reminding you...don't you?
