Davina McCall has admitted that she originally thought Big Brother may end her career. The TV presenter, 42, who has hosted every summer series of the reality show since 2000, confessed that she was shocked when her agent sent her a tape of the Dutch version of the programme. "I was at my house and my agent called saying, 'I'm sending you over a tape now of this Dutch programme'. It was these Dutch people and they were all at it on the sofas," she told Richard Bacon's BBC 5 Live show. "I thought, 'What I am watching?'. Then I saw this story start to play out and evolve. My first thought was that this is either gong to end my career of be absolutely amazing." Speaking about the lack of sexual activity in the UK show, she added: "I think Britain is one of the only countries in the world where they haven't been openly shown [having sex]. "Now I don't think the producers really want them to do it. We don’t show as much of it. Unless it is a battle of unrequited love - like Luke and Bex - or pertinent to the story. If it’s just kissing or heavy petting for heavy pettings sake, we don't show it." Big Brother 11 will start next month on Channel 4. DS |
