Default After watching tonights inside big brother...

Jut made me realise how much BB has changed over the years

Watch this part of an episode from BB2 and its like watching a completley different show. This was much simplier but in my opinion just as entertaining as the people are being themselves.

I dont think we need twists and turns to make a good series if anything i think it spoils it as people just lose interest with it changing so much.

This was 11 people in a house for 9 weeks . THATS IT.

But there were still loadsa bitching and arguments and it was proper entertaining

But if we don't get twists and turns now fans start moaning that it's boring and the producers are lazy etc. That was a different time with different expectations.

I like twists and surprises. They can be awesome; like the bedsit in BB5.

Yeah i know. Its just the atmosphere and stuff of the shows back in the day were alot more electric now its all panto.

Go on youtube for one of the evictions from bb1 and 2 and the crowds are huge.

You are right though we do need twists but not all this house next door/double eviction ****

coz its all been done and the housemates can literally guess big brothers next move

There wasn't much bitching and arguing in BB2 in comparison to other series, it was more light heared imo than the rest but I liked that and BB2 is one of my favourites.

It had it's moments though, as seen above.

Your right though OP, those were the days.

As mentioned in tonight's doc, the boe capacity was huge in comparison to pokey Elstree, house space was a bit smaller though.

bb is boring without twists, especially now people know the format of the show very well and developed their game plans, and bb twists supposed to ruin those plans.

in earlier bb, contestants had no clue and things went on in its own course. but in recent years, everybody knew how the show worked and has their own plans.

BB2 had a good balance, the housemates entertained us and there was conflict which arose alone, and with no help or push from producers... eg. Amma and Stuart at Brian Dowlings Birthday party...it was a brilliant time for it to unravel, and i remember it well as it was the first argument i saw on BB ever. It was genuine agression from Amma... she looked a bit psychotic!!

BB3 and BB5 had the greatest balance of fun and conflict/confrontation, thats why it worked on so many levels. BB6 was a great one to watch but it was based largley on bitching, which was the same for BB7.... BB8 was about confrontation (Charley would just argue with people for no reason), and BB9 was as bitchy as ever, almost surpassing BB6. BB10 was more focussed on fun and isolation of certain housemates.

It was a good show last night. First part was the best... how the idea of BB came along. Omg and in the 1st BB from Holland that couple was having sex!!! lol and omg BB1.. NASTY NICK. He looked a bit mentally unstable when Davina was giving him an interview. Lol he wasn't really sorry! I think him saying his wife died in a car crash was a bit sick.. but when he said it he smiled.. and it was very unbelievable!! Craig knew he was lying I think! but nasty nick putting names on a list.. lmao!! and that darren.. "names, names, who's names" looooool. Ahh dear. I think they scrapped the idea of taking books and writing equipment in when bb5 came around.

That is when we had entertaining people who can make up games and fun by themselves.. but I do like the twists.. the basics was fine in like series 1 and 2 because it was new.. but after that it was like "just people sitting in a house watching people sitting in a house" so this is when we need changes, new tasks, twists and games!

By the way.. I can't believe it.. PAUL!! That producer or whatever.. said they interviewed Paul like 7 or 8 times to try and get something out of him.. PATHETIC. In the auditions now you don't get that much 1 to 1 attention!! Maybe when you reach the final stages???? They obviously put Paul in because he was a young, good looking (well allright looking really) nice lad.. but boring.. without the Helen storyline he would have been another Dimogen, Snoozy or whoever. Okay maybe I am quick to judge because I can't remember much of series 2 but still.. seemed like the early audtions.. each person got more of a "look in" so to speak.

The production values were much higher in the early series, BB1-BB4 especially, but even through to BB7. BB8 they began to get sloppy.

It's easy to look back at BB1-BB3 and think "it's simple", but we all know with no twists viewers nowadays soon become restless We also know even if people claim they want "normal" HMs, "normal" is quickly branded boring. However, I would say in recent year BB9 had the most 2normal" cast of the lot and seems to be regarded as the better series of the last few years,, whilst for me where BB10 failed was that there was nobody in the house I could identify with at all - and hence I had no interest.

Looking at the bigger picture though and what last night did show is how BB just hasn't developed in the last few years. BB1 to BB3 developed nicely - BB4 failed because it didn't build on BB3. BB5 was a very effective relaunch which BB6 built on nicely - and they just about got away with continuing the "evil" idea for BB7 - but then any development of the show just seemed to stop.

BB9 made changes for the better - but the producers weren't as confident in them as the viewers and despite a generally positive reaction to the introduction of HoH and Heaven/Hell, they back tracked on them come CBB6 and BB10 just took a huge backwards step again.

Really regardless of the race row BB8 - or at the least BB9 - should have been the clear beginning of a new era for BB - and it simply wasn't, hence way ratings have continuously fallen since BB8.
