Default Fabio Capello commits to England!

Fabio Capello has signed an amended contract with England to end speculation over his future ahead of the World Cup.

The Italian's original deal was due to run until after the 2012 European Championships, but contained a clause which allowed either party to break the agreement after this summer's tournament in South Africa.

That had led to speculation that Capello could be tempted to turn his back on the Three Lions following the global showpiece, with Inter Milan keen to tempt him back to Serie A as a replacement for Jose Mourinho.

Capello had already told his players he did not want transfer rumours over their futures to distract attention from the task in hand at the World Cup.

And he has now moved to ensure that his own position does not come under further scrutiny in the coming days and weeks as his 23-man squad fly out to South Africa.

Confirmed
The Football Association has confirmed that an amended deal has been signed which removes the break clause and ensures Capello will remain at the helm until after Euro 2012.

Following the loss of Mourinho to Real Madrid, Inter president Massimo Moratti confirmed Capello - who made his name as a manager in charge of city rivals AC Milan - was on his shortlist to replace the Portuguese.

The 63-year-old had been in the process of amending his £6million-a-year contract, only for that to stall following the departure of Lord Triesman as FA chairman.

The pair had shaken hands on a proposal to remove the escape clause, and Capello wanted reassurances the men who matter within the FA thought exactly the same way.

Talks with Club England chairman Sir David Richards satisfied the Italian as he made his two-year commitment.

Focused
"I am very happy about this and would like to thank Sir David Richards and the FA for their continued support and assurances about my future," Capello said.

"I always wanted to stay until the end of my contract.

"In South Africa, we are totally focused on the World Cup."

Richards added: "We are very pleased to have Fabio's commitment for another two years and it is good that we have been able to resolve this before the team flies to South Africa.

"Now we can all concentrate on the World Cup and give Fabio and the players our full support."

Fantastic news.
