Default The Conways Have Left The Competition!

What are your views? Should they have gone?

Not based on this week's performances, no. Simon said that they couldn't win, but neither can Chico. This is the third time this year that Simon has basically lied - he said earlier on the show that the Conway Sisters were better than Chico, which they were. They also did better in the showdown than they did earlier, but Chico was just as bad as before. Nice dig from the blonde sister at the end though, saying that Louis had been their real mentor all along.

I think the right decision was made - the Conways have outstayed their welcome anyway. They actually were better than Chico tonight, but other than that, their performances have been dire.

True, but that was only because he kept them in when everybody knew that he should have booted them out. He has been biased towards them all along - not because he thought that they were any good, but because they are Irish.

Took the words right from my mouth, Charlotte. I thought Laura's last comment was hilarious.

It was right they went because they were the worst tonight, as they have been most weeks in the series. In my opinion.

Simon saved Louis having to keep them in for a few more weeks. Because he would have favoured them over everyone but Shayne.

Unfortunately a lot of the judging decisions have been a sham in this series. Like Louis quiting the show earlier this week.

I missed the start of the show so I didn't hear what they said about that.

Neither did I. I did hear though that from now on the public will be in total control as to who is sent out of the competition.

Finally, there can be an end to all this tactical voting, although will the judges now start to specifically plan and pre-determine their comments to try and affect the way in which the votes are cast? I wouldn't be surprised!!

Yer, although i support the Conways it was the right decision, even though they sang better than Chico, I think that Simon was not only saving other acts (because Louis would go with the Conways apart from against Shayne) but also saving the Conways embarrassment, because they hardly have any support in the audience which is demoralising for them, i think Simon was also siding with the public, because as much as people may hate him, Chico is very entertaining, cruel to be kind - good choice Simon

I'm glad they have finally gone. 3 weeks in a row in the bottom 2 means they could not stay any longer, the public just don't want them there.

Obviously, but I still feel they should have stayed ahead of Chico. Chico got in because he effectively chatted Sharon up. Chico has to go next week now. Not sure who will go the week after, but I'd like it to be Andy, I just don't see the appeal.

I thought it was horribly cruel when Sharon got the audience to chant "CHICO!!!" when Simon was making his decision, I wouldn't have been surprised if the Conways burst into tears, and I applaud them for retaining their calm , apart from Laura's comment at the end!!

I am not a Chico fan, but have to admit I can see him being an entertainer, even if it is at Pontins or something.

The Conways were nothing much of anything. The Corrs do it far, far better, and I am given to undersatnd they are all worth looking at as well.

I thought Simon made a brave decision, he wasn't a fan of either, but thought on balance Chico's popularity made him the stronger contender. He's absolutely right. They were not going to win.

I just wish he'd done the same when Maria was up aginst them.

So do I ROB, but I think he thought that Louis would save Maria.

Yet again, the Conways showed a complete lack of grace - Laura anyway - with her comment at the end. She said Louis had been their real mentor - what she meant was that he kept them in when their time was up, because he knows them and their family; also he consistently praised their performances even when they didn't deserve it, whereas Simon was honest about their performances, and they didn't like what he had to say. I should think that Simon is probably relieved to be shot of them.

The thing is The Conways were in the bottom 2 for 3 weeks in a row it would be a joke if they just being saved by the judges. Chico might not be the best singer but at least he offers something different, The Conways were just dull and vocally average at best.

As for not seeing the appeal in Andy. It's not hard to see, well hear actually. He has a great voice, whether or not you like his genre of music it's clear that he has a great voice.

He does indeed have an excellent voice. But it's like topiary - very classy, yet dull as ditch water.

As for the Conway Sisters, how well they performed throughout the series is immaterial - they weren't the worst act on the night. They haven't been in any week, in fact. Ultimately, it doesn't matter, as neither they nor Chico had a cat in hell's chance of winning. But it still should've been Chico that went home.

Simon got rid of them for two reasons - he hates anyone that dares to stand up to him, and to prevent Louis having to make a decision that would've resulted in yet another week of negative publicity for the show.
