I'm A Celeb - Davies Out
Kimberley Davies has quit I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here following her accident during yesterday's programme from Australia. BRAVE Aussie soap star Kimberely Davies has dramatically QUIT the I'm A Celebrity jungle only hours after returning to camp following her disatrous helicopter stunt. Millions of viewers watched open-mouthed last night as Kimberley Davies' Bushtucker trial went horribly wrong. The ex-Neighbours actress leapt from a helicopter, hit the water awkwardly and had to be airlifted to hospital. But after a night in hospital, the plucky star returned to be with her jungle mates. However, the show's producers were stunned today when Kimberley suddenly decided she'd had enough and announced: I'm A Celebrity...And I'm Getting Out Of Here. Yetserday, as she lay in bed nursing a cracked rib, show bosses insisted the Bushtucker Trial accident was her own fault. A statement from Granada Television said: "Kimberley had been given a full safety briefing beforehand when she was told that she must keep her arms down at her sides and her legs straight when entering the water. "She successfully completed the first of her two jumps, landing on a section of the target which was worth two stars. "But on the second jump, when she brought her right hand up to her face to hold her nose, her elbow was at an angle as she entered the water. "Rescue divers were immediately on hand, as was the programme's chief paramedic who assessed Kimberley's condition in the water and she was transferred to shore." It added: "An ambulance paramedic team quickly arrived and, given the remote location, decided to call in an air ambulance which took her to hospital where further treatment and evaluation revealed she may have suffered a hairline rib fracture. "She will be staying in hospital overnight and has been visited by her husband Jason." The Aussie actress and fellow contestant Sheree Murphy had been chosen to take part in the trial, which involved jumping 30ft from a helicopter on to targets. The incident is a huge embarrassment for TV bosses who have already lost contestant Elaine Lordan after she fainted twice and was rushed out of the jungle. But Kimberley's agent Richard Squire said: "Kimberley is a trouper and is determined not to quit the show. I believe if she has her way, she will be back tomorrow." Roger Fry, crew chief of Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Service, said: "She jumped OK but fell awkwardly into the water and suffered an injury to her shoulder." Pilot Dave Milne said it took 13 minutes to fly from the scene, in the shadow of Mount Warning, near Murwillumbah, to the Tweed Hospital in Tweed Heads, New South Wales. He said: "It is not for me to comment on what these television people thought they were doing allowing people to jump from a chopper into water like that." Last night a spokesman for the ITV 1 show said the stunt had previously been performed 3,000 times without anyone being hurt. He said: "The helicopter contractor does this activity on a regular basis, training divers to jump into the sea. The height of the jump and speed of the helicopter is typically that used for a person undertaking their first jump." He added: "Granada take the health and safety of all celebrities and crew extremely seriously and, as is the case with all Bushtucker Trials, a comprehensive risk assessment had been carried out." The challenge was halted after the accident, but the celebrities were given seven meals to share. Earlier, Kimberley had hinted she was hoping to be evicted. But Tommy Cannon got the boot instead. He revealed: "She was getting to the stage where she was definitely wanting to come out." |

It's a shame she's gone, as when she was actually given some coverage she seemed like a really decent, level-headed woman - not the daft bimbo we've come to expect Imo.
![]() I still think it was the best decision for her though - she was visibly in pain. ![]() Thought David was cruel in continually saying "Go home!" just his way of getting rid of another potential competitor Imo. ![]() |
