TIBB's RED DEVIL!!!
|
The four-man Club England board met on Friday to discuss Capello's position following their dismal World Cup campaign which saw them go out in the second round with a 4-1 defeat to Germany.
Capello only signed a new deal prior to the finals in South Africa, but such was the nature of England's performance, the FA decided to review his position. The Club England board - made up of Sir Dave Richards, Alex Horne, Sir Trevor Brooking and Adrian Bevington - decided that Capello should remain, and that decision was ratified by the Football Association board. Capello was immediately made known of the decision and he declared his delight at keeping his £6million-a-year-post and said: "I am more determined than ever to succeed with the England team. "Sir Dave Richards has called me to tell me everyone at The FA wants me to continue. I explained it is very important we use the disappointment as a motivation in the future. "I can assure the fans I am now fully focused on our European qualifying fixtures, starting with the friendly against Hungary in August. "We will look to introduce new players to give the team new energy and I will use all my experience to take England forward. "I am extremely proud to be the England Manager, it means so much to me and I am determined to succeed." Club England Chairman Sir Dave Richards added: "We are all still extremely disappointed at our performance in South Africa, and we believed it was important that we took some time to reflect on everything in a calm and considered manner back in England. "After fully discussing our performance we remain convinced that Fabio is the best man for the job. "He went into the World Cup with a reputation as one of World football's finest managers and we are confident Fabio will benefit from his first international tournament experience and this will undoubtedly make us all stronger for the Euro 2012 campaign." FA Board Acting Chairman Roger Burden commented: "The FA Board supports this decision. It is the right decision and will allow us now to rebuild for the future with Fabio leading us forward."

Good.
I think only a fraction of the blame for England's poor WC performance can be placed with Capello. Everything that was wrong, was the team and the supposed "World Class" players. Everyone was singing Fabio's praises before the world cup, and rightly so, he's a decent manager; yet when the team performs like a bunch of school kids, he gets a stupid amount of the blame? |

Glad he's staying. Statistically he's as good as anyone else so why replace him?

I'm sorry but I think he should have gone.
He went back on his pledge to take no players who were in any way unfit or not playing for their club's first team regularly, and strikers that weren't scoring for their clubs. He made totally wrong decisions right from the start with his team selection. Refused to change formation even when it's plain to anyone to see it wasn't working. And for the pure fact of bringing on Heskey in the the game against Germany when we were three goals down and he CAN NOT SCORE TO SAVE HIS LIFE, he deserves sacking for that alone. I agree the players are to blame, of course they are, but the manager has to take responsibility too and I think his strategy was flawed from the get go.

They don't want to get rid of him just yet cuz it would cost them too much. They were idiots when they altered his contract just before the World Cup so they have only themselves to blame.

Well from what I hear the team's gonna have a massive overhaul so I say give him till the Euros in 2012 and if we pull in another awful performance then get rid of him then.
We really need to look to the younger players really, that's why Germany beat us. EDIT: Fabio needs to be more malleable though, his strategy didn't work yet he refused to adapt. That needs to change really. Last edited by Tom4784; 02-07-2010 at 03:11 PM. |

I'm glad he's staying. People were all too keen to forget how he got us to the cup with flying colours. OK he's a stubborn mule but the best chance we have right now. It's the players who need a kick up the arse or kicking out to be quite honest

Thank god for that. Roll on March 26th 2011. Bale running down the flank towards some of the worst defenders in English history crossing in to Bellamy. Come on Wales.
