March of the Penguins when it came out in June in the US took at the box office during it opening, $20m compared to the Tom Cruise film War of the Worlds, $13m.

The latest count is that it has grossed $88m

There are talks of Oscar nominations and as someone who has seen it, I would reccomend it.

This is the official website

Possibly the main reason that it is not doing so well, is thatone of the major distributors, Odeon, is only showing it at Covent Garden in London.

I had to see it at an art house cinema, The Tyneside Cinema.

These small independants do not have the full surrond sound and the turnover to justify lower ticket prices. (Economies of scale)

If the Odeon had been showing this film, maybe it would have scored higher.

I haven't seen it but I know that conservatives in America like it because they think the penguins extoll conservative family values!

I'll probably watch it on DVD when it comes out.

I heard that as well, it proves that they did not pay attention if they ever watched it. The penguins are only faithful to their partner during one breeding season. They do not pair for life.

I do wish people would check the facts before making utterances which later serve to undermine their credibility.
