Default Steve is typical of a brainwashed soldier

They think just because they 'fought for 'their' country', they're more entitled to an opinion than others, and have a better more informed opinion.

I have first hand experience of a brainwashed soldier relative who fought in Basra.

If what british soldiers do were that great, they wouldn't be earning a measely £400 a week.

I have personal knowledge of a relative who fought in the Falklands and can say you're 100% wrong.

Maybe its certain soldiers then, however, they all believe what they're doing is for the good of the country. And also, many retired soldiers have said its a waste of time.

I'm sorry, but... so you're implying that the salary signifies how great the people are? So actors, Paris Hilton, and porn stars, are better than the armed forces? The salary doesn't mean anything.

I find myself continually agreeing with your posts GiRTh. The OP's opinion is his own, albeit blinkered and inflamatory, but I wouldn't mind betting he wouldn't be voicing it in the company of a serviceman. It's easy to be brave on the Internet.

You could say the same about nurses, teachers etc - public service generally isn't that well paid - doesn't mean they don't deserve more - of course they do - the government are just tight - and pay all their money to their MPs for their expenses!

That might be true now but was it rue back then of a leader who had already invaded Poland and Russia?

No, its not about the human, its about what they do. Risking your life for £400 a week is ridiculous, hence the brainwashing that goes on to get them to do it.

I did, with my relative, he was going to attack me had someone not stepped in. They simply cannot handle someone exposing them.

If he was on about now then I agree with him but I got the impression he was referring to WWII. I dont recall him mentioning America at all.

Someone like you, you mean?

If you took the same attitude with your relative that you've taken on this thread, it's lucky someone stepped in to save you, eh?

Exposing what exactly? How can you show your relative so little respect just to score points in a discussion?

I wouldn't have minded taking a punch from him, it might've made him see what a foolish thing he believes in. We were at a funeral reception by the way, my niece's. At the end of the night, he shook my hand, i noticed he'd had a word with his dad previous.
