Ah the old science vs religion debate. In the 'good old days' Dave would have burned Andrew at the stake as a heretic.

I think this is one area that Dave hasn't thought about much. Andrew also didn't give him a chance to answer properly. I love the subject so I'd have talked for hours.

Argument was much longer on LF! St. Dave trying to convince Andrew that god existed before the Big Bang 14.3 Billion years ago!

Funny why he waited so long before creating the Earth (6,000 years ago according to St. Dave)

In the even older days Andrew may have watched Dave and his mates being hacked to bits by gladiators or eaten by lions. Aint life great!

It is fascinating for sure. The less intelligent tend to view it from a singular one truth type of view. The more imaginative intelligent people tend to realise that there is more to life and go from there with a blank canvas.

Escapism via Christianity is ok for those that cannot handle the complexities of life. Most 'Born again christians' that I know are people that had serious problems, they mostly in my view use the Bible and all that jazz to avoid and escape. I respect their views to a point but they should not impose these views on impressionable people.

Addiction is addiction full stop. I wonder what Dave is trying to escape in this case, to me he is a pure addict looking for escape from his 'demons' much like many born again Christians that are in denial by design.

Dave expesses drunkeness a lot so I suspect alcohol as his particular problem.

Yeah its very true that a lot of addictive personality types turn to God in some way, shape or form to assist them through their addiction and in some cases swap a physiological addiction for a religious one. Almost in the same way the worst non smokers for whining etc are often ex smokers.

Thats not to say that all Christians especially of the born again type create a need within themselves for a belief in a god, or that all members of the god squad are addicts looking for an addiction.

It does seem with Dave though, he tends to use certain areas of the bible to support his take on God, and ignores larger parts of it that actually go against his personal beliefs. Similarly his simplistic view of the creationist model he holds true.

That is typically saying something and nothing at the same time. I respect religious views. Undeniably these views changed the world and supported an empathy that stands for the good of mankind.

However plenty of folks have as you said used selective passages from the bible and the koran etc to stupidly terrorise and put across bastardised, selective views onto 'normal' folks.

Dave is clearly one of these people who has serious problems due to his selective views i.e. equating homosexuals with witches and warlocks as 'he sees them'. I find him to be a very strange man with said issues.
