I doubt they'll ever be punished. The tree is inconsistent and practically a pushover. Lame.

Totally useless and pointless task, the producers had to find an excuse to give him back his clothes and now they'll want to forget the whole sorry incident, so no ToT wrath this time!

They were quite specifically told that under no circumstances even AFTER the task were they to let him know!
