Nate, I seriously doubt he would've done anything with you. He took your club as far as he could. I have a feeling he will be going back to Celtic in a couple of weeks time.

I know it's really bad timing. All I can put it down to is like you said transfers. They were ready to offload Milner at a price that O'Neill wasn't happy with and was told he wouldn't have much of that to replace him.

Strange that the transfer of James Milner has got rid of two high profile managers - Keegan and O'Neill.

Good luck to Villa next season anyway. Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise.

He's the only person out there at the moment. I have a funny feeling that he might go for Dave Jones of Cardiff but I don't think he would be the best man for the job.

Personally though I would love for you to have Maradona for the entertainment sake but he also wouldn't fit the bill.

If money was no option then I would get Gus Hiddink but would he come?

It truly is a terrible time to lose O'Neill.

That's really ****ty, the timing is just awful a few days before the season starts too.

Can't blame him really with your transfer situation but even so....ouch. I can't really see where he thinks he's going to go now either tbh.

MON is one of those managers who likes to have all control over the football decisions which is right and although he obviously has to ask the board for cash doesn't like it when they try and pick out targets that he doesn't want so got upset or the chairman is being awkward.

When the board try and influence the football decisions then there is big problems....

Yeah that's why I don't really blame him, aren't I right in saying that when he signed his contract he was told that he'd have a certain amount available to spend each season? And now that's switched to a sell to buy situation? He must be incredibly frustrated and feel let down by the chairman and the board, the timing is just awful though but maybe he feels he has no choice.

That's why we're so lucky with Moyes and Kenwright in some ways, okay we've got no money to speak of really lol, but the two of them are very tight and BK basically makes sure that Moyes gets what he wants and needs within reason and lets him make the decisions and allows him to basically control his team which is how it should be. It's a real shame for Villa.

Worst timing ever, and as you say no decent managers about. Bet Mark Hughes is kicking himself now, if he waited and extra week he could be Villa manager, not little Fulham's.

Still time for a new manager to come in and get rid of a few players so they can put together their own team. Still think Villa will have a decent season, probably finish about 8th.

Mancini's not been great so far. I predict O'Neill will take his job in a few months or so. I think it's inevitable O'Neill will fulfill his promise, sooner or later. It's his destiny.
