Yeah, I hate Man Utd as a team but don't really mind the fans unless they say something first.

Yeah me too, then if we beat Stoke it'll be a half decent tie.

We signed Jon Parkin the other day, think he'll be a good impact player.

I don't like you (joke).

Seems like Liverpool are getting their team spirit back, however there are still lots of average players in the team bar a few and KD needs to start the clear out and aim potential targets.

Oh yeah I did see that but I still think enough fire power back up is important and will increase competition for places.

Team is sliding down the league recently though.

Alc who is it you support again, Peterborough or Arsenal?.

With the Dalglish appointment I can't see Liverpool making any real improvement - their problems run deeper than changing the manager. Benitiez left them with a piss poor squad.

Knee jerk reaction from a club in trouble, the board trying to win back a few of the fans by getting in a man that most Liverpool fans want as the new manager.

It's a temporary thing having a legend of the club to steer the players and get the fans on side during a difficult time. Only thing is got to watch he doesn't fall into Kevin Keegan territory by what happened at Newcastle.

Dalglish has a hell of a lot to do when it comes to sorting out the Liverpool team for sure.

Correct - that won't happen until the summer though, and he may not still be at the club.

They only have 3 players good enough for a side looking for a title challenge. A big clear out is needed. They are nowhere near top 6 standard at the moment.

And I support Swindon mate.

I reckon they will get a couple this transfer window, although it's obvious to wait till the summer because there will be more quality available and most of them want to play in Champions League football but if some do want to play for them then expectations would have to be lowered for a while...

Cool. What has happened this season because in the last last you were that close to getting promoted if it weren't for Leeds leaving it till the last minute after reducing their big gap from the rest during the middle of that season.

Chelsea flattening Ipswich currently 7-0

Leicester putting up a good fight against Man City, was 1-1 but Man City just made it 2-1

We're second in January, we have a right to be optimistic of promotion. Didn't say we were gonna run away with it. One-man-team QPR aren't running away with it either.

Parkin's the last thing the opposition defence is going to want to see coming off the bench after being knackered out by Chopra, Bothroyd, Bellamy and Burke and soon to be Routledge. Nearly every championship defence can't deal with him because he's such a physical player.

We're 2nd so it's all good and form has been picking up again. We've apparently agreed a deal with Everton for James Vaughan too, which would be a great signing as cover for Chops. Routledge is close to signing as the deal was originally done before Pardew came in at Newcastle and I'm buzzing to see him in a city shirt again, he'll rip the championship up! We were also in for Danny Wilson at Liverpool on loan til the end of the season, but now Roy's gone we'll need to see if he's in Kenny's plans to see if we get him or not.

Thats the problem - which top quality players are going to want to join them in their current state? Not many.

We were very close to going up last season - we were still in with a chance on the last day of the regular season at Millwall. At one point when we went 1-0 up we were in 2nd place but then of course Leeds turned it around and both Swindon and Millwall had to settle for a play off place.

Made it to the final of the play offs at Wembley where we were deservedly beaten by a decent Millwall side, but may have been different if it wasn't for the Wembley turf as that cost us an equaliser near the end of the match. A real let down of a day, not just the result but the whole Wembley 'experience'.

As for this season...lost our captain, lost 29 goal top scorer to Leeds, and lost a loanee who scored 9 from midfield in half a season - and haven't replaced them. Manager is coming under a lot of pressure.

You were giving it the big 'un and you know it.

Are you familiar with the term 'polishing a turd', Chels?

Exactly but football is a mysterious and fickle game.

I reckon Swindon will be fine, although if they want to make a late push for the play offs which looking at the table looks unlikely they have to get a run together

Very true.

League 1 is very close, a run of 3/4 wins and your in the top 6.

How do you fancy Uniteds chances this season? In my opinion, they are the poorest they have been for a very long time.

Utd are poor this season but so is everyone else really.

Arsenal are never going to get a better chance than this year.

Spot on....I still think Arsenal will fall short sadly but would like to see them win, as you say they won't get a better chance as the standard is piss poor.

They have a decent run in really, they are at home when they play us, at home when they play Utd, at home vs Villa + Everton.. only bad game they've got actually is Spurs at their ground.

It's their defence and lack of striking options that worries me about them. They always come up short near the end of the season and I expect this one will be no different.
