Default You Spin Me Round Re-Issue

Dead Or Alive's You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) will be re-issued on January 30th. 2006. So far, there's only information on one CD single, as follows:

1. 1984 7" Mix
2. 1984 12" Murder Mix**
3. 2003 Metro Mix Edit
4. 2003 Video

** This is an error - it's actually the 1984 Performance Mix. They made the same mistake on 2003's Evolution: The Hits as well.

This time around, Woolworths (major players in the CD singles market) have confirmed that they'll be stocking the single (they didn't bother with the 2003 remix). The CD single artwork seems to be the same as the 2003 remix, too (unless Eil.com have messed up). Pete has no knowledge of the reissue as of yet, apparently. Sony received requests for product, and contacted Steve Coy (D.O.A.'s drummer) who gave his consent.

The following week (06.02.06) Evolution: The Hits will also be re-issued, but apparently this time Sony "are pretty committed to blanket TV advertising coverage". Again, this seems to be a straightforward re-issue of the 2003 version, with the same artwork. No mention of whether the limited edition 2-CD version will be made available again or not, as of yet. There's nothing about the DVD version being re-issued so far either, but the 2003 version also included the Rip It Up: Live concert, originally released on VHS video in 1988 in the UK and otherwise unavailable.

1. You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
2. That's The Way (I Like It)
3. In Too Deep
4. What I Want
5. Misty Circles
6. I'd Do Anything
7. Lover Come Back To Me (2003 Remix)
8. I'll Save You All My Kisses
9. Hooked On Love
10. Come Home (With Me Baby)
11. My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me To The Doctor) (7" Wipeout Mix)
12. Sex Drive
13. Turn Around And Count 2 Ten (2003 Remix)
14. Hit & Run Lover
15. Isn't It A Pity
16. Brand New Lover
17. Something In My House
18. You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) (Metro 7" Edit)

The four UK albums, Sophisticated Boom Boom (1984), Youthquake (1985), Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know (1986) and Nude (1989) are pencilled-in for Spring re-issues, re-mastered and with bonus tracks. The non-UK albums, Rip It Up (1987), Nude: Remade Remodelled (1989), Fan the Flame (Part I) (1990), Nukleopatra (1998), and Fragile (2000) may follow, depending on sales of the other re-issues.

I just realized something - when Pete's wearing a long dark wig he looks a bit like Cher.
I read about this on the official DOA site, hope everything goes well, and will deffo buy an album or two.

He was wearing a customised Cher t-shirt a few nights ago. I don't really get the whole wig thing at all, unless he's balding, which I suppose is quite possible. But he always had pretty increrdible hair in the past - that was all his own.

If you do decide to buy any of the albums, the first two are probably your best bet. Sophisticated Boom Boom is quite raw, and Pete's voice is really powerful. Youthquake has the most hits on it, and is a decent enough album, but the slicker production tames him a little. The other two aren't as strong, but that's personal taste, I suppose.

Yeah, he is forty-six, about the right age for men's hair to be receding/thinning.
He might also like the fact that you can change your look very quickly and easily with a collection of wigs. One moment you're platinum blonde, then a fiery red-head...

I can see it going down quite well with the public, even if people dislike him as a person they cant help singing along especially to his spin me right round hit

I cant see Pete being too happy about this, though he will probably welcome the cash!

He's often said that it was a bit of a millstone around his neck, but the last time it was re-issued, he was saying that it was time to take ownership of it again, because it was being sampled so heavily on dozens of other records. He probably made a small fortune from Dannii Minogue's I Begin To Wonder alone.
