Default Bulger mother blasts 'Law & Order: UK'

Bulger mother blasts 'Law & Order: UK'

The mother of James Bulger has criticised ITV drama Law & Order: UK for featuring a storyline involving the murder of a young child.

The Sun reports that an episode of the programme's third series will show two young girls kidnapping and killing a young boy.

Bulger's mother Denise Fergus said: "It's virtually a direct copycat of what happened to James. I'm certain they knew it would rub salt in the wounds for me and my family."

She added that she was "appalled and disgusted" by the plot, calling it "shock-value" drama.

However, an ITV spokesperson allegedly denied that the episode was inspired by Bulger's murder.

They insisted that the story was "based loosely" on the case of Mary Bell, a 10-year-old who killed two boys in 1968.

The new series of Law & Order: UK begins on September 9 on ITV1.
I sympathise with her infinitely but she doesn't have the right to try and take down anything that is somewhat similar to her own tragic case. Drama should never stray away from difficult subjects.

This must be the fourth thing I've seen her complain about/try to get taken down.

I sympathise with her and her family a lot but for Christ sake she can't just go around thinking she can dictate what is shown on TV.

If she doesn't like it...she doesn't have to watch it.

I agree or we would not have any drama on tv. Everything that is on could relate to someone somewhere.

She acts like she is the only one to have a child murdered...

Yes it was a rare case but there are others out there that have been portrayed in films and tv shows.
