Why? Do you think people who don't pander to political influences and commercial pressures are from biblical times?

It shocks me that there are such discriminatory & ignorant people about in 2010... wow...

There is a difference between discrimination and debate.

Everything is open to debate. I never said somebody was not my equal so where is the discrimination?

So you don't want to debate but just mock people?

You'd rather feel it's appropriate to insult somebody rather than open discussion on something?

The topic is very clear. There have been some clearly on topic and useful contributions.

This is clearly an obvious factor consider ofCom, housemate health and welfare and the situation with "nadia" that we have.

You talk about discrimination so how different are you, with your behaviour in this thread from the people you say are in the wrong? Pointing fingers of discrimination appears to open up personal need and right to look down at people willy nilly.

Somewhat reverse.

OK

I'll be civil.

Quite simply I question this area a lot, not because of the "trans-sexuality" but because of nuances, differences, distinct differences that arise in an economy, culture or society and what creates them.

That's all it is. It's not homophobic. It's not archaic. It's not different. It's seeing why society, individuals are driven by change and what are those distinct factors that create that change.

...

The thread is questioning whether Protest groups have an influence in decisions within and outside the house.

Not at all i just feel that your beliefs are very dated

It's 2010 why don't you evolve and learn to accept that not everyone is the same as you and other people's life choices have nothing to do with you

It's not all that simple.

I think the belief that everything is cool and fine isn't even a modernist approach. It's Victorian.

The belief that everything can be questioned and everything can be enquired is a modern 2010, 21st century belief structure.

I think you need to look up the definition of the word bored, immoral and failure.

I Can't quite see where you have gone wrong here MassiveTruck, maybe people reading between your lines.

Your right though debate is not on most people's agender anymore. More like, i have lived for 20 years and i know it all, and what you said was homophobic RIGHt!!

I'd personally refer to her as a she, because i believe in the possibility of a female brain, finding its way into a Male body.

I have always been highly dubious about the "born in the wrong body" thing.

I think it is a purely psychological issue tied in with being gay and, in addition, (possibly) a tendency towards transvestitism.

Many people are born into bodies they wish were different - those born disabled for instance. But generally they learn to get on with life and live with it. Wanting to go as far as mutilating your body for no (physical) medical reason is something which suggests a serious psychotic condition! So we should not expect Nadia to be an entirely normal woman.

Nadia will NEVER be fully accepted as a woman by everyone and that is something new she will have to learn to live with since her op. I hope she feels it was all worth it.

When this was being passed through the Lords it's what one of the members said, that it was a form of mutilation and most of the Lords agreed upon this as did many members of parliament.

Unfortunately Robert Winston was on a roll at the time with TV shows on the BBC, DVDs and Books and didn't want to tarnish his position as Lord - he spoke against it, protest groups used him as their focal point and this led it into the European court.

Noone is fit to judge anyone elses life choices unless they have been in their shoes so just give it a rest because this "debate" is just going round in circles

We make judgements about others' life choices all the time! We don't have to be in a wife-beaters shoes to decide wife-beating ain't a good thing!

I just hope Nadia paid for her own "gender reassignment" and didn't come here from Portugal so that UK taxpayers (e.g. me!) would fund what is, from a medical point of view, a totally unnecessary operation - followed by a lifelong course of hormone therapy.

Bull**** this is completly different lol

Everyone knows beating a woman is out of order but you cannot comment on a person needing to have gender realignment surgery because you dont know how hard it is for them.

Your being rediculous

Tax payers fund all sorts of unnecessary surgery.

Such as boob jobs and gastric bands.

I dont really see the difference.

I will just quote Paul McHugh, Professor of Psychiatry, and one of the world's experts, on the subject of gender reassignment surgery/therapy:

"To perform physical gender reassignment is to co-operate with a mental illness rather than try to cure it."

Let us leave it there. Goodnight!
