Most of the Hosemates in Ultimate Big Brother are boring attention seekers (Makosi, Nikki, Ulrika, etc) Why didn't they put the entertaining housemates in such as Derek Laud, Kemal, Science, Freddie, Marcus, Siavash, etc? Why is their no housemate from BB10? 'Ultimate Big Brother' is an absolute joke. Should have called it 'Also Ran, boring housemate Big Brother'.

All your housemates barring quite possibly Science and Kemal would have been boring. Plus we have the token gay with Brian, no need for Kemal, plus there are/were many (john, coolio, victor) argumetative housemates, so no need for science really.

It would have been problematic with any set of the housemates. Obviously BB has been going on for so long that there is a good selection of excellent housemates and they could not all get in. Also everybody thinks their favorites should be in, so people would never be happy with the selected housemates.
The real problem is that years have gone by and people change - and I'd say especially these people because they've been just regular people who haven't been famous. They became famous, they had to learn to deal with the fame and the negative side of it, which they probably didn't think about before getting into the house. They did things they regret and things that had serious consequences at times. They were scrutinized and I think they all have been curious enough to read what has been said about them. They have just become aware of audience reaction and they know they have to deal with everything they've done in the house once they leave which might be unpleasant and therefore, they do anything to avoid it. Well, people who learn from their mistakes are wise but the general public feels it doesn't make good TV. |

A MASSIVE amount of what 'entertains you' is the combination of people and how they work in a social dynamic. Do you understand that BB is NOT MEANT TO BE X-FACTOR or BGT? Get it? The idea is not that each individual comes out to your camera and then you see which one is the most entertaining. WRONG. NO! First, its not even meant to be just 'entertaining' but intriguing, a social experiment, to make us think or analyze or study, but, When it does aim to 'entertain you' this is through and by a 'social group' and 'social interaction'. NOT a series of individuals who, when its their camera time then 'show their stuff!' and are judged individually. So the partial answer is that they tried to find the winning 'combination' rather than just 'the top 10 individuals'. The next problem depends on what you think is 'entertaining'. IF you have decided entertainment means simply who is the most outrageous, loud, crazy, wild, uses the most foul language and jumps up on furniture to spread open their anus at cameras and yell 'fffffffffffffffff....ukkkkk!', well then no, you WONT get what you want because 10 people doing that is not considered entertaining by most viewers. The other thing you may have noticed is that the actual overnight HMs are just part of it. Many different ex-HMs ARE showing up throughout the days to engage or stay for a while etc. Now the last problem with your post is really the 'tell all' explains-everything part: Why didn't they put the entertaining housemates in such as ......... Freddie, Marcus, Siavash, etc? Because Freddy was a rich boy who would get high and let older men pound him in his bedroom for drugs and otherwise showed himself a cruel little man when he got his chance to be in the 'in group' and was most entertaining when Bea's voice gave him panic attacks. Marcy is an embarrassment and possibly one of the dumbest weakling HMs to ever get 'carried' that long, and, Siavash was not very entertaining at all but you think so because he wore 'outrageous colourful clothes!!!'. You should not be making any kind of judgments and go watch Jeremy Kyle or BB10 on DVD. |

[QUOTE=ElProximo;3744312]Let me explain how this works:
A MASSIVE amount of what 'entertains you' is the combination of people and how they work in a social dynamic. Do you understand that BB is NOT MEANT TO BE X-FACTOR or BGT? Get it? The idea is not that each individual comes out to your camera and then you see which one is the most entertaining. WRONG. NO! NOT a series of individuals who, when its their camera time then 'show their stuff!' and are judged individually. QUOTE] I miss the days when BB WAS a social experiement, series 1,2 and 3 certainly had this angle and were far more entertaining watching how different backgrounds and personalities mixed in an enclosed, sometimes self sufficient environment. It only started to turn when they got the dramatics / actors / wannabee WAGS etc in from BB5 onwards but by then and after a disaster of BB4 they had to make it bigger and better. IMO it wrecked the shows concept but I concede it has kept us talking over the years I only wish for UBB they had stripped it all back and ran with the original format |

In some ways they did aim for a little return but then it all seemed to go sideways and we got Sam Peppers and Snogmances again. In so many ways those early seasons did not necessarily have that 'eye-candy thrills' or those Jeremy Kyle moments, but, I wish many (who don't know) could understand how much more enthralling and intriguing those were on more subtle, deeper and often much more satisfying levels. Well.. I just hold out hope C5 may return with an 'original concept purist' type of BB series. But im not holding my breath heh |

One, but not the same.

There would be always somebody that wouldnt be happy with the line up whoever they chose. I think they had a difficult task, I also think that some of the old HM's might have turned them down.
Although I do wonder why Ulrika is there, I dont dislike her, but she hated it the first time, so why put her in again. And Preston and Chantelle are quite dull , I do think Charlie, Markus and a few others could have been a better choice.

But with all the media attention nowadays, it's really hard to go back to the original concept. I'd love that though. I loved the earlier ones, even BB4 which seems to be hated by everyone.
