This is a thread talking about the famous matches in the history of Football. I'l start with the 1984 European Cup Final.

Date: 30-5-84
Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome
Teams: Liverpool and Roma

Liverpool came into the match looking to win their fourth European Cup and Roma were looking to win their first. Most people considered Liverpool to be the better team but thought that with the match being played at Roma's home stadium they would have an advantage.

Liverpool kicked off in their famous red kit and started the better out of the two teams creating an early chance. Liverpool's dominance payed of in the 13th minute when Phil Neal headed past Tancredi. Roma started to play alot better and were creating more, Liverpool couldn't get the ball past the halfway line, then finally Pruzzo gets the equalizer for Roma playing in their white kit. A very drub, match followed with penaties the only way to settle it. Nicol steped up for Liverpool but blazed it over the bar. Di Bartolomei cooly put the ball past Grobbelaar. Neal, who scored Liverpool's goal did so again and put his penatly into the top corner. Grobbelaar started dancing on the goal line which put off Roma's Conte as he blasted into the Roman sky. 1-1 and it was anyone's to win. Graham Souness, the captain came to hockey with 60,000 Romans booing but this didn't put him of as he put the ball to the Goalkeepers left. Righetti then scored for Roma and Rush did the same for Liverpool. This meant that Graziani had to score or Liverpool would have match point. He didn't and Liverpool were one kick away from becoming the champions of Europe for the fourth time. Alan Kennedy looking like he had the World on his shoulders came forward and put it staright past Tancredi. Liverpool were the Champions of Europe for the Fourth time.

What happend to them:

Liverpool: Got banned from entering European competition the following season. They didn't get back in until 2001-02 and won it in 2005.

Roma: Still a decent team with an habit of choking on the big European stage, proven when they lost to Liverpool in the 2000-2001 UEFA Cup and got hit for seven by Manchester United in 2007.
