I have just made a complaint to ebay - very strange situation!

I bid for a leather interior for my car and after 2 days was outbid which is fair enough so I decided to just watch it till the last minute. The day bidding was due to end, I recieved a message from a member telling me that the person who had bid against me was actually the seller with a different account.

I asked this person how they would know that and she told me she was his ex wife! I decided to send the messages and a complaint to ebay. Dont mind being outbid but hate sneaky trading!

In general though I have always had no problems with ebay!

Yeah bidding on your on auctions to get the price is called 'shill bidding' and it's against the rules of eBay. Info about it here.

Nothing wrong with waiting till the last moments of an auction to bid though, I use that tactic all the time.

In fact there is a website that let's you place bid automatically at the end of auctions - http://www.auctionstealer.co.uk/

They let you have three free 'snipes' a week.

Thats what the person used on me tonight i think because so as i clicked for my bid it would say someone has a higher bid than you!

I feel cheated!! lol

Your rival might have placed a higher maximum bid than you, in that case. If he or she has done that that person's bid will be placed automatically.

I palced my bid for example it would say the persons big is £1:40

To palce a higher bid, big at least £1.80 and as soon as i did that i would say this persons higher than you to place another bid do it over bla bla

And it kept happening

That's because they had put in a bid earlier of a significantly higher amount, say, £3.00.

If you put in a bid of £1.80 it will raise the bid price shown to the next level higher, but you won't be the highest bidder until you outbid the other person's higher earlier maximum bid.
