Default EMO avvy\'s

Why do so many people have the "EMO" avatars.. this includes SMC, sropz and fangz... are they for the purpose of getting at a certain FM??

Emo is...well it's hard to explain.

It's a subculture similar to goth, but very watered down.
Emos listen to nu-metal, emo, and those annoying pop-punk bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.

They write sad songs and poetry, mope around being miserable, and harp on about everything that's wrong with their lives and refusing to be happy.

They wear certain clothing, converse, get certain hair-cuts, wear more eyeliner than is sensible and so on.

the perfect defination. Not trying to stereotype but I disliked everyone of them that I have met and it's not because I'm jealous of them or anything. There's nothing to be jealous for!! They hate so many people (most of which i have seen) and live in a subliminal culture called MYSPACE which is pretty sad and overrated.

Well, not everyone who dresses emo and listens to emo music is depressed, obviously, but I'd say a certain FM fits the stereotype fairly well, though I've met worse.

'Oh Fizz, listen to my poem about suicide and self-harm!'

Do they have much reason to be depressed though? Typing suicidal poems and listening to songs filled with misery on their exspensive ipods and computers that mummy and daddy got them, turn on a light sometime jeez.

It's precisely that that gets to me.
Gah, this thread is making me want to throttle someone, preferably someone listening to MCR and cutting themselves.

Only the most horribly cliched goths around. The emos and goths sort of cross over sometimes.

Emos are like the most cliched goths around with no taste in music, clothes or style.

Most goths I know hate emos as much as anyone, it's like emos took the bad stuff from the gothic subculture, made it worse, and made it into a whole new subculture.

I've never met an emo who can laugh at emo jokes, and never met a goth who won't laugh at a goth joke, and I've met plenty of both.

Well that's the weird thing. I've met stereotypical chavs who deny being chavs and claim to hate chavs, and I've met stereotypical emos who deny being emos and claim to hate emos.

I've never met a goth who didn't realize they were a goth.

(Well, apart from the ones who come up with **** like 'I'm not a goth, I'm wearing black because I am in mourning for the human race' ones, but they're pretentions little ***** who get mocked by other goths.)

so we're judged by appearance and not tastes and attitude?

this society is turned to complicated. I wish it was the 80's!!!
