One Foot in the Grave actress Doreen Mantle is joining Corrie to play Colin's mum.

Doreen is perhaps best known by many for her brilliant portrayal of Jean Warboys in One Foot... as well as a range of other classic comedy roles including appearances in Jam & Jerusalem, Chalk, and dramas such as The Duchess of Duke Street and Holby City.

In Corrie she will play Joy Fishwick, mother of tragic Colin, who - unbeknown to Joy - has died after confronting John for using his identity to teach.

With Charlotte's help, John hid Colin's body in the Factory, but when he went to recover it, he was shocked to find it had been buried in concrete.

Recently John's old teaching colleague Brian arrived on the Street, saying that Colin's mum was trying to contact him, so will Joy also be drawn into the mystery surrounding her son?

Doreen has has already begun filming and will be on-screen in the next few weeks.

Will she discover John's dark secret, as the curse of Colin continues to haunt the cobbles?
