Firstly, everyone has different tastes in music.
Secondly, different generations usually like different genres of music. Thirdly, it would be dull if everyone liked the same music.

In your opinion.
My taste is very diverse. I love golden oldies like Kate Bush, David Bowie...80s electro like Human league, new order.....right up to pop trash like sclub7, steps, Girls aloud etc Everybody is entitled to enjoy whatever makes them happy. And not be ashamed. Music is for all occasions and sometimes you just want hear mindless pop that perks you up. Othertimes you may want something more reflective and meaningful. Depends on your mood. Point is, all types of music has its place.

Each to their own.
I like a varying collection of genres, from pop, to jazz, r'n'b to rock or trance. My favourite genre of music is classical though, never gets boring and is the root for a lot o other music genres.
