Well maybe check out the background. You (apparently) had no idea who I was talking about. Not that I believe that but your words....

There's no point starting a thread in serious debates if you're not willing to "debate" it.
My opinion. I've put that across and now you're suggesting I shouldn't comment because I've never heard of her before. Just a reason as to why she may be now referred to as Catherine. Surely that is what this thread is about? Or are you not happy if people don't agree with your side of it? |

What I'm saying is hardly not understandable. I raise a reason as to why which is very explainable. |

No Thomas its not, you said her "marital name", she doesnt have one yet, if she does get married to the prince her Marital name will be Windsor, but as she will be marrying into the throne she doesnt need to use a surname. They get to do that. Last edited by Shasown; 17-11-2010 at 03:12 AM. |

Will she be married with the name Kate, not real name, or Catherine -birth name? My point stands as a reasoning to why they may be referring to her as that now. |

Because she has got engaged before you might say, 'but she's not married yet'. |

Its extremely unlikely that she asked the press to start calling her by her full name now is it? Some quarters of the media would just laugh at that wouldnt they? Last edited by Shasown; 17-11-2010 at 03:21 AM. |

What is your problem? - that is the name on her birth certificate and that's how it will appear on her marriage certificate. We call William "Will", but he will be King William and she will be Queen Catherine. Our Queen was/is called "lizzie", "Lisbet" and "Beth" by her family and friends, but she is Queen Elizabeth to the rest of us - that's protocol.

This is exactly what I was getting at. A totally valid point that has been rubbished. A debate? pfft. You've just explained it better, but the bit in bold is what I was getting at so it would make perfect sense with the announcement of the engagement to call her by her birth name. |

Can't say Ive noticed her referred to as Catherine. Its Kate this, Kate that. Then again, I am quite lowbrow in my media tastes so...
I guess its just an official thing. |

See this is why old fashioned English people bore the ****** out of me, with their sh*t boring old names like Oliver, Elizabeth and James etc
Like seriously, I see what you mean. She gets ENGAGED not even ******ing Married yet and already people are acting as if she's the most important person in the world by giving her a 'classy' name. IMO though Katherine is a dull name. So Katie FTW.

It's the fact she's been Kate for the past 8 or so years she's been with him yet is now Catherine (Elizabeth) just cos she has a ring on her finger that pisses me off

I don't see the problem. Most people call me Ben, but in the professional world people refer to me by my full name (which I prefer). It is, after all, her full name, and Queen Kate sounds a bit weak. Besides it's not like they will pass a law which means you have to refer to her as Queen Katherine, I'm sure she doesn't care how people say her name.

Queen Kate just sounds more modern.
We don't live in the 17 Hundreds anymore.
