Chantelle hopes she will wed Preston this year

Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton has announced her engagement to fellow ex-housemate Preston Samuel.

The couple met on the Channel 4 series in January when she was planted as a "fake celebrity" ordered to convince the housemates she was famous.

She said Preston, lead singer with the Ordinary Boys, had given her his mother's ring.

The Essex model, 22, announced the engagement at the New Woman Beauty Awards at London's Dorchester Hotel.

"It was as much unexpected for me as it was for him," she said.

"He asked for his mum to send the ring over and he asked me.

"I just want to marry him.


The ring belonged to Preston's mother

"I've had a really long day today but I don't feel tired and I'm just dying to get home to see him."

She said she had already told friends and family: "I rang my mum and everyone and we went to get a bottle of champagne and we celebrated."

She added that she was on "cloud nine" and hoped they would marry later this year. She did not say how the singer had proposed.

The couple's on-screen chemistry was the subject of speculation during the Celebrity Big Brother series - despite the existence of Preston's now ex-girlfriend, Camille Aznar.

I hate to put a dampener on things, but I can't see this lasting. They've only been together for three months, and for much of that time, they haven't been able to have a lot of privacy. Add to that the fact that at the age of 25(?) Preston has now been engaged to three women, and it starts to look a bit worrying. He seems the type to fall hard and fall quickly, but that doesn't always make for a lasting relationship.

Don't get me wrong, I wish them the best of luck and all that, but I don't get why they're rushing into things so quickly.

As Ruth said - they have been going out since leaving the since and they have had the press and cameras following them everywere! I don't think it makes sence

I really do think they have rushed it, I mean they have only known each other for a few months, just as long as they are doing it for the right reasons!

I personally think they are in love and make a great couple, best of British to them.

My Girlfriend told me that rumour today that Chantelle is expecting. I don't want to sound to cynical or anything because I really do like them as a couple, but if they are doing it to advance there publicity or something like that well it's just not a healthy situation. Just in this world for them to have another motive for getting hitched it wouldn't surprise me.

What is so hard to believe about two kids falling in love and wanting to be together? Its their lives and if its a mistake then its up to them them, but we should cut them some slack and just wish them the best.

All relationships are different and move at different paces. I know a couple who got married after a month together and they are still very happy 15 years later.

they havent ben together for half the time they say they have because of work gigs etc .Hardly seen each other really . How come they know each other that well. Infactuation. (I was right about stu and michelle I gave them a year together) but well you never can tell
