Default Well that\'s a turnup!

I was shocked that Jade went out first, I was conviced it would be Jonny. He has come fourth in a number of polls. It also seems that Jonny fans are making most noise in the crowd.

Alex has clearly provoked extreme views about himself, love him or hate him, very few are indifferent to him. I say that because I think I heard a number of boos when his clips were shown, and no other housemate got that.

Or maybe it was Tara Hyphen Poshbird's fault!!

I was quite shocked that Jade went then. I too thought it would be Jonny. I now think the next to go will be Alex, then the final 2 will be Jonny & Kate with winning - no bad word has been said about Kate practically!
It was a good show, Jade was brilliant in her interview but I thought she would have got a better reception from the crowd - its Jade out of the house forgodsake!!

I suspected that Jade would come fourth.

She had a brilliant reception from the crowd and a wonderful interview with Davina.

She looked lovely too. Well done Jadey.

The good thing about Jade finishing fourth is that it means that we don't necessarily do what the tabloid press tells us!

There's hope for us all yet!!!

Jade is being touted as the "real winner" by some of the press today. They think she could earn up to £1,000,000 if her PR etc is handled correctly.

Even though she fnished 4th, she is still making the headlines as the main interest. She is going to do very well for herself and good luck to her!

I think the order of evictions were fair enough and much to be expected under the confusing poll's cercumstances.

I would have liked to see Alex out first then Jonny. Leaving the the two girls with Kate to win. Kate did win so I am quite happy.

I hope Jade does well out of it, she should be on Graham Norton's show for a bit anyway.

I noticed that when I popped into the corner shop this morning, it was the Star and the Express, had Jade all over the paper and didn't even seem to care about who won!

Then I saw why: Exclusive story starting Monday.

OK so Express group newspapers have signed her up. Needless to say I didn't buy the Star today!

Jade should be aware that the £1,000,000 prediction was made by Max Clifford.

I think this figure has been exaggerated just as last year the amounts offered to Brian and Helen were lower than reported.

Hmmm, thats what they look like where I live too Kaz....(which is quite close to Sticks, geographically speaking - perhaps he goes to a special turnip warehouse??)

We just call 'em turnips.

Anyway, I was sure Jonny was going to go first, but I was so happy he didnt - the order was pretty much how I wanted, only I'd rather Alex went first.

The last show was sso much better this series, as it was close, and nobody had a clue.

As a 100% Highland lassie myself, even down to the traditional red hair, the sight of that turnip brought back some happy memories of my mother's wonderful cooking, not to mention the traditional fare of haggis, tatties and neeps on Burns Night!!

Thanks, Kaz.

And here's something else useful you can do with them!

OR: RECIPES FROM THE POOR SIDE!

2 lbsTurnip Tops,
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
Seasonings to taste

Light the fire

Put the Pot on the fire, add a little oil, then onion, sauté’ until the onions are soft, add the Garlic, brown, then add the Turnip tops and seasoning.
Add a little water and simmer for about 15 minutes.

Serves: 2-4

In the TV series Blackadder, Baldrick's favourite vegetable should have been parsnips instead of turnips but writer Ben Elton got the two confused.

I thought swedes were turnips??

My Grandma calls 'em swedes, I call 'em turnips, I thought they were one in the same.

Or am I doing a Jade??

I must say, I like the round turnips better than the long thinner ones....

The difference between a Swede and a Turnip is that the swede is generally larger and has an orangey-coloured, sweeter flesh than the white turnip. A turnip also gives off a lovely apple-like smell when you first cut it, but you would not want to eat it raw, it's horrid.

Try turnips diced in a neck-of-lamb stew, swedes boiled until soft and mashed with similarly boiled carrots and served as a single vegetable - yum yum!

That's the trouble with kids of today (into Old Git mode now), too much junk food and not enough vegetables.

I had swede yesterday - and broccoli and potatoes.

Why is talking about vegetables turning into the most interesting thread??
