South Park has 2 main disabled characters (Timmy and Jimmy) that they regularly mock (but they are really mocking stereotypes of disabled people, not disabled people in general). The Dave Chappelle Show has done plenty of skits that are much more racially controversial Frankie Boyle's show, including a skit in which a blind black man (he doesn't know he's black cause no one's told him, and no one knows he's black cause he's wearing a hood) is the leader of the KKK calling for a genocide. Plenty of "N" words.

Also Howard Stern comes to mind. He uses the "N" word often. But whenever he uses it, he's using it to mock RACIST people, which is exactly what Frankie Boyle was doing.

The key to this type of comedy, is that they use the offense to mock the REAL racists, and to point out the ABSURDITY of it. The joke is on the BIGOTS, not on the victims of bigotry.

Mocking Ignorance is funny.

I've seen all the shows, and i don't believe for 1 second that Frankie Boyle is some sort of hateful bigot with an agenda. In fact i believe the exact opposite is true. He's a very tolerant man with absolutely no political agenda. His only agenda is ridiculing the absurd.

I agree with Lostalex, FB is no worse then your average episode of South Park or Family Guy.

It was Katie Price that chose to make her child a public figure.

If we are gonna have a serious debate about the rights of disabled people, then I'd argue it's Katie Price that should be criticized for making this child a public figure considering he's a child and is not capable of making legal decisions for himself, where is the government in protecting him from being exposed by Ms. Price to begin with?

Public figures are open to public discourse. The real question is why is it okay for Ms. Price to have exposed this child to public scrutiny to begin with?

Arrow Frankie Boyle is a TV turn-off for 400,000 C4 viewers

Quote:
The Scots comic launched his controversial Channel 4 series Tramadol Nights to a healthy 1.3 million viewers on November 30.

But now he is proving a major turn-off after causing outrage with a string of tasteless gags.

And yesterday it emerged the show’s average audience figures were down to around 880,000 by December 14. Bosses fear even more will switch off when the last episode of the six-part series is screened tomorrow.

As if they didn't have enough slipping ratings to worry about with a new Chris Evans show around the corner.

5 episodes of Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights, 6 episodes of The Trip and Royle Family Christmas Special have given me some of best laughs in quite a while.

I actually think Frankie Boyle could be racist deep down, but I dont really care as his show is very funny.

Chris Rock, Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy have a lot of offensive material in their acts too (whites, gays, women etc), but you know what?, I dont care!!!, COS ITS FOOKIN FUNNY

People who moan about being offended OFFEND ME

Life of Brian offended millions of people, doesnt stop it being one of the funniest films ever made

I've been a fan of boyle for years but his new show is just not funny its jus sick jokes for shock value. On topic, he wasnt being racist though he was mocking racism in the british media....one of the funnier tit bits in a largely rubbish show

You pretty much know what you're going to get with Frankie Boyle, so if you're easily offended, don't watch him! I like Frankie although I'm not a massive fan of Tramadol Nights, I do believe though that he was mocking racism in this instance, as LidlSistA has said.

I didn't know it was possible to lose "the right" to appear on tv. In fact i didn't even know it was a right to begin with.

I have a feeling you are full of shit, as usual. Appearing on TV is not a 'right'.

And even if you were right, hurrah? Well done us? Let's celebrate a man loosing his income because us reactionary idiots responded to a joke we were not forced to watch that we did not understand?

Your some piece of work. Have you any friends in the real world or can nobody at all break through that morality bubble of yours? Your like Ned Flanders with absoloutely none of the charm.

Arrow Polar bears pull in 5.4 million viewers, while Frankie Boyle lags with just 600,000

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010...-boyle-ratings

Quote:
Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights, Channel 4, 10.30pm – It was not Channel 4's most popular show of the year, but it is likely to be the most controversial.

The stand-up comic's six-part series ended with 600,000 viewers, a 3% share of the audience, with another 100,000 on Channel 4+1, half the 1.3 million who watched its debut on 30 November.

It trailed in last of the five main channels, beaten by Channel 5's Most Shocking Celebrity Moments 2010, which averaged 1.5 million viewers, a 7.5% share, between 9pm and midnight, and BBC2's QI XL Christmas Special, which had 1.7 million viewers, a 9.7% share, between 10.30pm and 11.15pm, with another 28,000 on BBC HD.

Yay for the british public! Sent a clear message to the broadcasters that nothing edgy or controversial will be tolerated.

I'm sure British TV will be so much better for it. Well done jizzmops.

Have you any idea what you are talking about? Get real. I sympathize with your equality for all routine [as much as I have a hunch that your every bit of nauseatingly overreactive as the people on the opposite end of your tolerance spectrum] but by and large viewers ditched the show because it was a heap of shit.

It wasn't edgy or controversial. It was shit. People need to stop getting these things mixed up all the time. It's like when Bill Hicks done his routine about people in an outcry over Basic Instinct. Oh the film is this, oh it's that, oh it provokes controver -

- no. Piece of shit.

Simple.

Ch4 viewers are a hardy bunch. They certainly don't get scared away from tv shows just because the Daily mail gets its knickers in a twist.

Truth is, without the controversy his ratings would probably be even worse!

Well i thought it had it's funny moments. that bit when the 4 kids (spoofing the narnia movies) found that weird creature on the log, and then tortured it. i laughed my ass off. I thought the knight rider spoof was hilarious too.

It's certainly funnier than the Morgana show, or the Stephen k Amos show.... IMHO.

It was rubbish. There was some funny bits but this was his own TV show, not mock the week and it failed.

Frankie Boyle was only ever going to get away with these jokes if the show was actually good. It wasn't. Hince he hasn't.
