Are gay athletes smart to stay in the closet? Or, are they being paranoid about homophobia?
As a gay athlete, do you think they'd face more homophobia from their own team mates? or would they face more homophobia from the crowds? If you were a gay professional athlete, would you feel comfortable coming out? Which is more prevalent in sports today, homophobia or racism?

Xisco and James Mcfadden are openly gay and they both seem happy at the clubs they have been at from what i have seen.. I've heard loads of homophobia from fans at the games Sol Campbell gets it all the time

Depends if they're bothered about homophobia or not.
If you play for a big football team and are openly gay then chances are you're going to get the rivals teams fans chanting abuse at them. |

In football I can imagine it being hard with all the fans. Don't think it would matter in a solo sport e.g. tennis
