The details of Coronation Street character Dennis *Tanner's comeback have reportedly emerged.
It was revealed earlier this year that 74-year-old Philip Lowrie is returning to his role as Dennis after 43 years. He will apparently arrive in Weatherfield as a homeless drunk and attempt to sleep on the doorstep of old rival Ken Barlow (William Roache). "He will lock horns with Ken, who will not be pleased to see him," a source told the Sunday Mirror. Dennis, the son of Elsie and Arnold, will also beg Rita Sullivan and Audrey Roberts for a place to stay. Lowrie appeared in the first episode of the show, but was written out eight years later. The actor, who has also starred in The Liver Birds and Doctors, is thought to have signed a six-month contract and will begin filming in May. It was recently announced that former Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain had joined the cast as Tommy Duckworth. Digital Spy

I hope he mentions whether he stayed in touch with Elsie over the years.
Obviously she would be long gone but she left in the famous back taxi in 1986 never to be mentioned again. I miss Pat Phoenix |
